Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

This features the same level of sus pense and character development as ``Nancy Drew.'' The word processor must have gotten stuck on sparkle, as eyes constantly sparkle, although they sometimes twinkle for variety. The cli max, in which Liz and Jess face a crazed and bloodied murderer in an un derground parking garage, will satisfy fans deeply, especially as Jess proves herself a hero.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wakefield detectives, June 27, 2001
Mystery, suspense and intrigue are all present in this book that is part of a super chiller collection. The Wakefield twins are unexpectedly involved in a murder mystery while spending the summer at an internship at The Sweet Valley News, in which they may become the next victims! Their brother's friend is the main suspect, and is he really capable of such a crime? THat's what the twins intend to find out for themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Predictable, but fun mystery for SVH fans!, June 15, 2011
For starters, if you don't like Jessica as much as Elizabeth you may not like this one. The first of the Super Thriller series, Double Jeopardy proves to be very Jessica-esque in all it's glory as the plot mainly focuses on her. I have to admit, I rolled my eyes a few times at Jessica's ridiculous antics in the first few chapters. Although her faulty decisions lead her to obvious disappointing outcomes, she manages to pull herself together in the face of danger. Jessica always has a tendency to bounce back from whatever mess she gets herself into, which I happen to admire in her character. Even though she can be perceived as flighty (with her devil may care attitude) her hearts in the right place.
It's summer and the twins are given an internship at the Sweet Valley News. Evidently Jessica wasn't to happy about working on her summer vaca, but as it were since she didn't have any solid plans, her parents pushed her into taking this internship with Liz. Lucky for Jess working for the Sweet Valley News gave her the opportunity to work with the attractive Seth (Jess's latest crush), a young upcoming writer who also writes mystery novels under a pen name on the side. Jessica works on a silly plan to make Seth swoon over her by making up mysteries about real people and current unsolved cases for Seth to solve. Unfortunately, her made up stories almost cost Seth his job at the sweet valley news and her internship. Luckily Jess merely gets a slap on the wrist and takes up an intern position that nobody in the office wants and Seth gets to stay after given a fair warning.
All seemed well until one night Jessica witnesses a man carrying a body wrapped in a blanket(an apparent murdered victim) in the parking garage at her work. Even worse her current house guest is be being pinned for the murder after the body was found in his car. Only Jessica has seen the real murderer and he her. In order to clear her friend's good name, she has to find him before her and Liz's lives are at stake!
A pleasant read for a rainy summer night. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch out Nancy Drew! Step aside Hardy Boyz, April 19, 2007
This book is, dare I say, suspenseful! Yeah this is actually a good one. Jess and Liz have more enemies and witness more murders than two gang members. Honestly, I guess it isn't easy being beautiful! Im pretty sure (without checking) that this is the first Super thriller, so what better place to start eh? Also Murder on the line or something close to that is another pretty good one
