5.0 out of 5 stars Very good plus to your bike
This kickstand is very strong, the design is wonderfull, not cheap
When you receive it you will notice the very good quality of this.

This provides an excellent way to stand your loaded bike.
Be carefull, it have some measures to cot it in order to have exactly the lenght size you need for your bike, but if you cut more than what you have to you...

3.0 out of 5 stars Kickstand for heavy bicycles.
This is a rather odd kickstand. It tucks up both legs on the left side of your bike. It worked well to steady my motorized bike and is reasonably strong but still lightweight. However, it is a bit fussy to operate and takes extra effort to employ. I have replaced it with an easy-to-use low hanging double stand, but am thinking of going back to the Esge/SKS stand...

4.0 out of 5 stars Strong and stable but set up takes time and patience, October 9, 2008

I installed this center stand on my Surly Cross Check prior to a 8 day trek from San Francisco to LA. It had a snug fit on this bike, just behind the bottom bracket and I had to drill and tap a hole in it's rear side to mount my rear fender to. There is plenty of aluminum in it's mount section so this was no problem to do and worked fine. I also adhered some pieces of cloth bar tape to the chainstays to prevent scratches. The bolt that clamps the two halves of the base to the chainstays has both a combo 15mm & Allen head so both kinds of tools can be used--this way, if you need to do any adjustments or remove it, you can with just an Allen tool. A nice feature.
Initially, the stand was way too tall when extended, so I began cutting it, incrementally with a hack saw. This took time and the measure marks on the two legs didn't necessarily match a centering of the bike. I ended up setting it to have the rear or front wheel set off the ground by about 4"-5". With loaded panniers and close to a 90 lbs total, even on hard dirt, the bike remained upright. Be careful not to cut them too short!!!
When I first mounted it and used it a couple days prior to the trip, it came loose while I was working on the bike. I had not tightened it enough out of fear of compressing the chainstays. So, I realigned it and tightened it more and haven't had a problem since, the chainstays are pretty beefy.
It came in handy time and time again on the trip when we made stops. The bike never fell over and I am amazed how sturdy it is considering the mechanical move it makes when extended, not to mention how scrawny it is.
I had hoped it would allow me to use it as a repair stand when adjusting the derailleurs or oiling the chain, but it did not clear the pedals when extended, so you could never spin the cranks more than about 300 deg.
Also, the rear derailleur cable was slightly displaced by the mount and some compensation adjustment was required. It did not however impair the shifting of gears.
It is a bit heavy at 1 lb 5 oz.
Overall, a very sturdy, well made, useful addition to your touring bike.

All-in-all it is well designed and built but a bit quirky. BTW, it mounts in the usual place in the middle of your bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Kickstand, November 3, 2010

Sturdy kickstand will hold your bike upright, and folds back into one without really taking up much extra space, or dropping down too much lower than a normal kickstand. The kickstand comes intentionally with excess dropdown length requiring the use of a hacksaw to allow a custom fit to any bike. Just take your time when figuring out your cut- or don't start too short.

I ordered this after I had tried other options for my heavy delivery bike. I like it very much. The length is perfect without needing to cut any bits off, but that is, I'm sure, a nice option for people who do need adjustments (and the legs have gradation markings to aid you). The only issue that I had with this kickstand is that the space provided between the top plate and the rest of the kickstand was to large for my frame tubes. This was easily solved by using some 25 cent washers as spacers.
The design is ingenious and stable. I appreciate that both legs stay on the left side of the bike and they legs do snap down into place easily.

To me, it is worth every penny! I no longer find my bike on top of another or on the floor when I leave it at the bike rack at work.

This is a great kickstand. It held up great on a cross country bike ride. The only bad thing about it is that It lifts your front tire off the ground and it swings around.

I installed this kickstand on my Sun EZ-1 AX recumbent bicycle. The bike has a mounting boss that perfectly accomodated the stand with one exception: I had to enlarge the mounting bolt hole slightly with a tapered reamer.

The stand is a somewhat bulky item but very light aluminum. You might encounter clearance issues depending on your application.

Ingenious design: both legs pivot and spread out when deployed to provide a nice stable platform. When retracted they tuck in on the left side of the bike. The legs are easy to deploy but you have to raise the bike off the ground while standing on one foot and using the other foot to extend the legs. The legs aren't adjustable, but they are notched so you could cut some length off approximately equally. I haven't done so because I had no clearance issues and I like the wheel being off the ground a ways. The balance point of the Sun means that the front wheel is off the ground; the bike rests on the two stand legs and the rear wheel. Depending on your application, YMMV.

5.0 out of 5 stars A huge improvement for bikes needing upright parking., March 9, 2008
This review is from: Double Kickstand for Heavy Bikes (Misc.)
Recently, I purchased and installed a large basket for my sister's bike, so she could give transport her dog safely during a bike ride, only to discover that the kickstand was not supporting the bike when we parked it. Turning the front wheel to a better direction seemed to help, but then we often returned to our bikes and found her bike had fallen.

The ESGE double kickstand made a perfect solution. It was simple to install. It is strong and light. The operation of the kickstand is exactly like the one it replaced. It is simply amazing! My sister is very happy her bike remains stable when she parks it.

I bought this for my Kent tandem, but it didn't fit. Instead, I installed it on my other bike, and found it extremely pleasing.
