Double Notch Crimping Pliers. Each Notch Can Crimp Either 2mm Or 3mm Crimping Beads. From the same people who brought you the original crimping pliers, comes this new model - made for crimping two different sizes of crimp. Very convenient! This crimper has two forming cavities to tighten 2-3mm round tube or combination crimps up to 15% tighter than our original crimp tool. Featuring true ergonomic handles which give you a great grip. Measurements: Pliers are 5.5 inches long, tips are 2mm at the narrowest point. Lap joint construction. NOTE: These pliers are intended for beading and other fine hobby work. Not recommended for heavy duty applications such as automotive, home improvement, or maritime use. If you are unfamiliar with the way crimping pliers work, please read the following and consult the diagram at left. It's actually very easy to do - after following the instructions once, you probably won't need them ever again. The crimper is a hand-tool which forms a smooth unobtrusive crimp, banishing forever the unsightly sharp-edged crimp formed by conventional flattening methods. It forms a finished crimp whose diameter is smaller than the original crimp bead. If desired the crimp can be hidden in a crimp bead cover, a clamshell type bead tip, or slipped into a large hole bead. After the last bead (A), the jewelry wire or monofilament (B) is passed throught the crimp bead (C) - around the clasp or jump-ring (D) - back through the crimp (C) - and optionally back through the last bead (A). In Step 1, the crimp bead or tube is fully secured to the cord in the crimping station (E). Best results are obtained when the two wires are positioned on either side of the center dimple. The resulting crimped bead now has a valley or dimple in the middle. In Step 2, the final shaping is carried out in the rounding station (F), where the bead is, in essence, folded over itself and compacted, making it smaller and causing it to grip the wire or cord very tightly

I am an jewelry artisan and often finish stringing with 2x3mm crimps. I've gone through two of the less expensive crimping tools - they literally snapped at the crimping end because the metal is so cheap (guess where they're made?), so I decided to go with a more comfortable handle after the last plier head flew across the room. Compared to the former incarnation, these are a definite improvement. The handle is certainly more comfortable, and it seems that you can put more pressure on them, they have a nicer action, and they crimp more than one size crimp tube. However, the metal looks pretty much the same to me, so I'm skeptical that they'll last any longer than the others. Moreover, though they are more comfortable to use, I really don't know that you can consider them ergonomic. All my other pliers are Lindstrom ergonomic and these don't even come close to the kind of fit and comfort of my Lindstroms...kind of like comparing Bosch with Black&Decker... But, so far this is the only ergonomic option out there. We'll see how they hold up! (Btw - they are manufactured in Taiwan, for those who like to know the country of origin).

I am so glad I bought these crimping pliers! After several years of beading, I was not happy with the first pair of cheap crimping pliers I bought. After receiving these double notch pliers I couldn't believe how great they worked.
They really grab the crimp beads, and are so comfortable in your hands. The long handles make the pliers much easier to use. Glad I made this purchase!
