More About the Author

The first job Susan Dworkin had out of college was at the US Department of Agriculture. For a New York City girl,it was a real mind blower. She went on to write books about courage (The Nazi Officer's Wife, now an international best seller) and celebrity (Making Tootsie, Double De Palma), novels about passion (Stolen Goods) and politics (The Book of Candy). Last year, she returned to her first love down on the farm with The Viking in the Wheat Field, (Walker), an exciting, user-friendly guide to agricultural politics and the future of food.

Few authors have ranged over such a wide variety of subjects. At Ms.Magazine, where she was a contributing editor, she interviewed Whoopi Goldberg. Meryl Streep, Roseanne Barr and Danny Glover long before they were famous. Her fiercely funny, political plays -- All Day Suckers, The Old Mezzo, The Farm Bill, The Miami Dig, The Book of Candy (based on her novel), The Public Good and The Forgotten Lover -- have been produced in New York and regional theaters.

Audiobook fans will find the many award-winning titles Susan produced and directed on Audible. They include George Guidall's recordings of The Assistant by Bernard Malamud and the classic As a Driven Leaf by Milton Steinberg, and the delightful coming-of-age novel by Edna Ferber, Fanny Herself, a favorite among young women, read by Suzanne Toren.

"Basiclly I'm a social historian," she says. "Which means I love to talk and travel and hear what my readers are thinking." So get in touch and keep up with her appearances via her websites: www.susandworkin.com and www. thevikinginthewheatfield.com.

I bought this book back in college after seeing the movie Body Double. I highly recommend picking up this movie. This reminds me of the way DVD's are now with their extra content and special features.

Pick this one up. You won't be sorry.
