Nanny Assis is a Brazilian sensation! Though his musical training (and indeed his reputation to this date) has been as a percussionist, now he is to the guitar what his acclaim has established as a perfect musician on percussion (Assis has even worked with classical composer Philip Glass) AND he adds to that step on the ladder his singing voice.
Nanny Assis has that 'Brazilian sound' to his voice - sweet yet husky, pliant yet pitch perfect, and a range that is the envy of many more classically trained vocalists. Here he sings in both English and Portuguese and his rendition of such favorites as 'Mas Que Nada' and Jobim's song of the title of the CD 'Double Rainbow' are as well conceived and executed as any other recording. He is ably backed by a small ensemble of piano, cello, flute, accordian, acoustic and electric guitar, cavaquinho and trumpet, used in varying combinations according to the spirit of each work. And as if all this weren't enough, Assis includes some of his own compositions that are among the finest bands on the CD. Assis is simply one electrifying and very sexy singer!
