Book Description

Coffee shop owner Sadie Long has been lusting after her good friend Paul Williams for years. So she's more than a little intrigued when he invites her to a business meeting at Mavericks, the sex club where he works. While catering an event at the club is not quite the proposition she was hoping for, her business could use the boost. And she can't resist the chance to work closely with Paul in such a sexually charged atmosphere. Enter the club's hot owner, Josh, and suddenly Sadie's fantasizing about being part of a threesome.

Paul has always wanted Sadie, but never thought she'd see him as anything more than a friend. On the night of the party, he and Josh tempt Sadie to reveal her deepest desire—a desire both men are eager to help fulfill.

Giving in to her sensual side, Sadie enjoys a night of mind-blowing sex. But in the light of day, will she lose Paul as a friend, or gain him as a lover?

Book 1 of the Long Shots series.

Rating: C+ ... Heat: Sizzling

Warning: This story has the usual m/f as well as m/f/m, and some brief moments of m/m/f, ménages.

"Hang on a second." He covered the microphone of his cell and flashed her a grin. "I want you to think about my question."
She frowned, tucking a loose lock of her hair behind her ear with a self-conscious pass.
"What is your fantasy? Because I really want to know."

With that simple question, things between Sadie Long and Paul Williams go from `stuck in the friend zone' to `where do we go from here?' Sadie finally has her chance to explore her feelings for Paul after a decade of him always being in a relationship with someone other than her. And what better way to feel things out than while she caters a party for him at a sex club he manages?

The beginning of Double Shot ran a little long, focused quite a bit of attention on Sadie getting ready for the party and her internal thoughts, but I still enjoyed the build up. Getting to know Sadie herself.

Because I liked Sadie, a lot, even if that song played on a loop in my brain, in the background, every time her name was said: `Sadie, Sadie, married lady, that's me!' She was shy, bashful and completely oblivious to her own charms. Classic middle child with an older sister and younger brother with strong personalities. Sadie goes with the flow and blends in. So, it made me smile when she finally grows bolder and actually issues orders to Paul and Josh.

It didn't feel like as much attention was paid to Paul and the development of who he is... But I still really liked him as a hero. There were quite a few sides to him shown in the last half that drew me to him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee & Erotica = Perfect! October 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
My Review:
What a hot little book! I loved this one. This is a friends to lovers trope and you all know that I love that!

Sadie owns a coffee and catering shop with her brother and sister. She has been friends with Paul for ten years and has lusted after him for most of that time, but Paul has never been interested. What Paul is interested in is having the Sadie do some catering for a party at the sex club, Mavericks. While discussing the details of the party, Paul pushes Sadie to reveal her fantasies to him. She brushes him off, not knowing how to take this flirty sensual side to her friend, and sure that she doesn't want to expose her ultimate fantasy with him...a menage with two men.

You can see where this is going, right? It's a seriously sexy book. Sadie is not an exhibitionist or someone who would normally experiment in the bedroom, but she lets go of her inhibitions and has some startling revelations. Paul has NO CLUE that Sadie has been attracted to him all these years. I love it when that realization starts to come about. Then there is Josh, Paul's good friend who can see the reality of the entire situation because he is not as emotionally involved as Sadie & Paul.

This was just a fabulous little book and I look forward to read more of the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Take a walk on the wild side October 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Take a walk on the wild side as Sadie Long unleashes her most secret fantasies in Double Shot by Christine d'Abo. Long time friends Sadie Long and Paul Williams push the boundaries of their friendship when Paul hires Sadie to cater an event at Mavericks. His introduction of Sadie to Josh Scott, his close friend and owner of Mavericks, takes this couple into forbidden territory when Sadie confesses her desire for a threesome.

Double Shot is an excellent beginning to Ms. d'Abo's Long Shots trilogy featuring the Long siblings. Sadie is the middle sister who tends to be overshadowed by her more outgoing siblings Paige and Ian. They own a coffee shop together and their relationship with one another is warm and supportive.

Told in third person from Sadie's point of view, Double Shot is an engaging novella with appealing protagonists. Sadie and Paul enjoy a close and comfortable relationship with both of them secretly longing for the other. Ms. d'Abo keeps the sexual tension high as Sadie's fantasies keep popping into her head at inopportune moments.

Josh is an intriguing character. He and Paul are long time friends who share a complicated past. He is very mysterious and über sexy. I am crossing my fingers that Ms. d'Abo has plans to expand on his character in future works.

Double Shot is a fast paced and compelling story. The sex is explosive as Sadie pushes her boundaries and explores her sexuality. The romance between Paul and Sadie is sweet and completely realistic as these friends turned lovers take their relationship to a deeper level.

Christine d'Abo leaves her readers eagerly awaiting A Shot in the Dark, the next installment of the Long Shots trilogy.

Sadie Long has known Paul for ten years. Of those ten years, she wanted him, thinking the only thing she could ever have was his friendship.

Paul's feeling for Sadie changed a while ago, but he never had the nerve to do anything about those feelings, until his friend Josh planted the seed. So when an opportunity arises to hire Sadie's catering company for an event at Josh's club, Paul jumps on the chance to put his seduction of Sadie into action.

Josh owns Maverick, a sex club, where is hosting a private party for select members. With Sadie catering the event, Paul is given the perfect opportunity to rouse Sadie's wicked fantasies and make them come true. His wildest dreams never included sharing Sadie with his best friend Josh.

This was a short, HOT read. My only issue was I felt that once Sadie gave into her fantasy and had sex with Paul and Josh, the whole Josh storyline was left hanging. The author tried to tie it up nicely at the ened with Paul's explanation that Josh was his best friend and while they may have done what they did with Sadie a time or two, it was never like it was with her. That explanation left it out there to make you wonder if maybe, should the story have been a little longer, something more would have developed between the three of them.

Quick, hot, menage read that will definitely leave you wishing for more!
