Alva is the best brand to use if you want to cloth diaper on a budget, plus they offer tons of cute prints, unlike US-based brands that cost twice as much money.

My go to cloth diapers in my stash aren't the $20/diaper diapers, they're the $3 - $8 /diaper diapers. Alva and Kawaii are by far my favorite and the first we use in our stash, I always grab Alva's off our diaper shelf first followed by the others.. In addition both are cheaper on their own sites than they are here, however, I like the Amazon backing on my purchases for those just in case moments that I tend to have more than others.

Save your money, does your baby really need to poop in a $20 diaper rather than a $10 (or less) diaper that works as well if not better? lol

We have three different diaper brands in our stash: 36 OsoCosy prefolds that we use with snappis and 8 Thirsties Duo Wrap Snap covers, 12 Charlie Banana pocket diapers, and this 1 Alva Baby diaper. I purchased this single Alva diaper because our Charlie Bananas are great, but they were donated to us by a friend and are size small, so they will only last a little bit longer on our currently 12 1/2 pound 4 month old. Our prefolds and Thirsties are great, but we really love the ease of pocket diapers, and the Thirsties will only last up to 18 pounds. I decided to test out this Alva because we will eventually have to replace our entire diaper stash when our little one grows out of the prefolds/Thirsties, and let's face it - these Alvas are muy affordable! We have had this Alva for about 2 months now (I was able to prep it in about 3 washes) and I wash our diapers every other day - we use the Alva so often that it has been in every single wash load since we got it. I prefer to use the pocket diapers for nighttime use because I feel that they wick the moisture away whereas the prefolds just get soaked. We have only had one leak with the Alva, and that coincided with our little one suddenly turning into a pee machine at night. To combat this, we also purchased the set of 12 Alva bamboo/microfiber inserts and now use 3 inserts with all of her nighttime diapers (including Charlie Bananas) and no more leaks! The diapers (and Alva website) say that it cannot be washed on a temp any higher than 85-95 degrees to prevent delaminating, but I have found this to be untrue. PUL fabric is designed to withstand high temperatures in the wash and dryer, and actually, if small tears develop around seams or snaps, a round in the dryer can help to reseal them.Read more ›

This diaper is great. Nice color (I have it in purple and pink), quality construction, and has ALMOST everything to make it perfect. The only thing that would make it better is double gussets. I love that it comes with 2 inserts, makes it great for night time use. It washes and dries well, fits well. Love the crossover snaps and hip snaps. Fits both my 2.5 year old and 3 month old girls well.

I know these aren't the name brand cloth diapers, but they are quality made I think and great absorbancy. They wash well and fit my child great. They have an over lapping feature for small children too. I only use alva diapers bc they are affordable and they do the job.

I have been cloth diapering my infant for six months. I am an educated professional and invested hours into researching cloth diapering options and cloth diaper brands. I own several types of diapers, representing many brands. I purchased these because the price is much lower than rival brands. I compared the Alva diapers to my BumGenius pockets and Happy Heineys pockets, which are more expensive.

Cons:
1. They leak. Period. They outer material is does not contain moisture 100%. I never have leaks with my BGs and HHs, but consistently have leaks with these. Leaks occured even after I adjusted the snaps and triple checked the fit on my son.

2. The snaps are awkward. My son is in the 50 percentile for weight, so he's not an overly large or extremely scrawny kiddo. The snaps around the waist do not allow for a snug fit. The company needs to add a few more snaps to ensure a better fit.

Pros:
1. The diaper comes with two inserts.
2. The pocket fits 2-3 inserts for heavy wetters (my son isn't a heavy wetter, but I stuffed the diaper to see how many I could fit)
3. Lower price

Conclusion: Spend the extra $8-$10 diapers and purchase BumGenius or Happy Heineys. You won't encounter leaks and will have a much easier time fitting the diaper on your baby's bum. I always tell new moms to prioritize baby spending; splurge in 2-3 areas and cut back somewhere else. I bought more expensive diapers (BG All in Ones & Swaddlebees etc. ) and saved money by NOT purchasing fleece wipes. Instead, I collected old cotton t-shirts, cut them into large squares, and made my own wipes. If you identify 2-3 areas where you can DIY or simply do without (bottle warmers etc), you can free up extra funds to purchase better diapers.

After about three washes, the elastic came undone. I have to now take the time to repair all five I have purchased.
Not to mention, they leak every time.

I love Alva diapers, they are a steal. This red is perfect for Christmas too! These diapers never leak and the inserts that come with it are good but I bought the bamboo 4 layer Alva inserts and I prefer them best. These adjust so well and fit pretty trim unless you have to double up. Super comfy! I have recently found that if you go to the Alva baby website you can get all the Alva diapers you want for about 5.00 each and they come with inserts and you get free express shipping when you spend 49.00. So until that deal is over Amazon isnt the best bargain for these diapers. However, even on Amazon a bit over priced they are a STEAL when compared to all other cloth diaper costs, AND features. Get Alva pocket diapers and you wont be disappointed. We initially began with gDiapers ,but they leak all the time and are so cumbersome with all the snaps, and shell pieces, and various sizes. Even though they are pocket and snap, they are the simplest to use and keep the liner in place firmly and never leak.
