One of the best crochet books in a long time,

Love this book! I read about the designers in a crochet magazine. Seeing their designs, I couldn't wait for the book. Not disappointed at all. It is gorgeous. Very colorful and funky. Erika and Monika (the authors) seem to have good spirits and are passionate about making wearable crochet fashions. The patterns are very easy. I highly recommend this book.

Amazing book!,

I don't get easily excited with a crochet book because I have seen so many, I have also designed many projects by myself. But this one is amazing! I love almost everything from it, I already finished the cover shrug (actually it took me one evening to make it), but I did not sewed the feathers because I am very animal friendly crocheter... The spring issue of the Interweaven Crochet shows more photos from the book for your reference. The explications are very easy to follow, but pay attention since there are some mistakes: you better measure the garment before trusting the real stitch number given in the instructions (it refers for example to the white cover shrug, there is a pretty mess). But don't care, the book is still worth all the money it costs. Congratulations to sisters Simmons, what a great taste.

I LOVE this book. I am an up and coming crochet designer as well. But when I saw this book, I was humbled. These ladies have some serious talent. I'm working on my second project out of this book. I'm making the tube Apron top for me to wear this weekend. I also made the poncho for my 8 year old daughter. There is something in this book for everyone. All you have to do is change the yarn and adjust the size. There is something in this book for old and young alike. No matter what size you are. And a lot of these items are adjustable to give you a truly custom fit... I am in LOVE!

I have been a fan of Double Stitch for a very long time and have followed them since first seeing their work online on another independent crafters site, so when I heard they were producing a book I was truely excited. This book has wonderful photos of all the products and the instructions are simple to follow especially if you are a beginner like me. I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for new and fun ways to express their individuality. Tumbs up to the Double Stitch sisters!

This book has some really innovative designs, but maybe they are not so useful in the real world.
On the other hand, I think that there are some really great great designs in there. My one real issue with this book is, the directions within the patterns are not well written and maybe were not properly edited. I kind of took a guess at what the designer meant for me to do within the pattern. Not good for a beginner.

A top pick for any needleworker or library seeking contemporary designs,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Double Stitch (Paperback)
DOUBLESTITCH: DESIGNS FOR THE CROCHET FASHIONISTA goes above and beyond most crochet styles and instructions, making it a top pick for any needleworker or library seeking contemporary designs. It tells how to make crochet sexy and fashionable, features crochet wear which can be worn over T-shirts or with jeans, and pairs form-fitting options with color combinations. From halter tops to hoodies, the results are satisfyingly different - and illustrated in full color along with easy step-by-step instructions. Very highly recommended: a unique and refreshingly contemporary application of crochet style.

Fun and refreshing twists for the classics,

What I've enjoyed about this book is that it gave me a fresh, new appreciation for worsted weight yarn. For example, I love Red Heart Super Saver yarns because of their vibrant color palettes and availability, but they're not exactly pratical and tend make stiffer garments. This book has allowed me to use an array of yarns, including Red Heart, giving me wonderful results. The patterns are fairly easy to follow and this book takes care of that quick project "itich" when one wants somthing cute in a hurry. While some things in this book probably wouldn't work for me because i'm over 40, but having crocheted for over 30 years, I find this book refreshing. The only thing that I would suggest is that you read through the patterns. Although they're fairly straight forward and simple, like with any knitted or crocheted project, it's a good idea to understand exactly what you're dealing with. Nevertheless, play with the patterns and have fun!

I know the title of this review is a such a cliche, but this book of crochet designs just wowed me! As a newbie to the art of crochet, I was happy to see that the instructions are so well expressed. The designs are so haute couture. I simply love it. I preferred knitting before this, and thought crochet was kind of old-fashioned or hippy-ish, but this book changed my mind.

This book is great! The sisters are very creative. If you are not ready to step out of the box or "granny square", this book is not for you. I love the designs and the other materials they use to create these beauties. I look forward to future books and patterns from these two.

Awesome book. The look of the patterns are unique and funky. I have been crocheting only about a year so I don't know if I have the chops to tackle some of the patterns but will give my best go. Also most of the sizes are between small to large so if your more to love like me, just know this book is more for inspration purposes. Still great looks, patterns, and photos.
