4.0 out of 5 stars Telepathic Twins, July 16, 2008

This review is from: Double Trouble Squared: A Starbuck Twins Mystery, Book One (Starbuck Twins Mysteries) (Paperback)
This is a children's book that would appeal to 3rd-5th Graders. Soon after twins July and Liberty (born on the 4th of July) find out thier father, Putnam Starbuck, had quit his job at the CIA, they find out they are going to live in London. Their mother, Madeline Starbuck, cannot leave her job as the largest manufacturer of tutus in the United States. Because of this, their occasional babysitter, Zanny, also a schoolteacher volunteers to go along as the nanny.

July and Liberty along with their sisters, Charly and Molly, also twins, have many adventures in London. This book also explores communication between twins. I think all young twins would enjoy this book as well as 3rd to 5th graders.

4.0 out of 5 stars Weakest of the Starbuck family books, but still enjoyable., February 24, 2011
This review is from: Double Trouble Squared: A Starbuck Twins Mystery, Book One (Starbuck Twins Mysteries) (Paperback)
My absolute favorite book for YEARS growing up was "Shadows in the Water" (the 2nd book in the Starbuck family trilogy). I fell in love with the twins and Lasky's writing style. 'A Voice In The Wind" (3rd book) was also amazing. I wished desperately for a telepathic twin (maybe I do...long-lost? :).

Perhaps Lasky was still trying to find her voice in "Double Trouble Squared". Or perhaps I preferred the twins at slightly older ages. In any event, this is an awesome trilogy, even though "Double Trouble Squared" was my least favorite.
