The "blues" label is misleading; sure, it starts with the blues, but there is a whole lot else in there. Even when the songs are at their darkest (Plastic Spoon), something about the music doesn't let the album get grim. One thing that was obvious on stage which might help explain the album - Otis is the artist, but don't underestimate daughter Cassie's inspiration.
