Product Description

Strange things start to happen to sixteen-year-old Haley after she notices the Watcher. He looks like an ordinary teen, but his gaze is menacing as he observes her and her family at a restaurant. And then he's gone--vanished--leaving behind a pair of shimmering silver sunglasses. When Haley peers through the sunglasses, colors fade and her best friend becomes someone else. Freaked out, she vows never to use the glasses again.

But the Watcher returns with deadly intentions. And after Haley is in a near-fatal car crash, she realizes the sunglasses are her only hope to prevent a murder. She slips on the glasses and enters a parallel world where dead people live and beloved friends die.

To survive in this duplicate world, Haley plays out the ultimate masquerade--pretending to be the girl living a twisted version of her life: her parallel twin, Halee.

About the Author

AUTHOR BIO Linda has loved writing and reading for as long as she can remember. Her first completed novel was written in pencil on blue-lined paper when she was eleven. Three years later, she stepped up to a typewriter and spent a two-week Christmas vacation writing a 200-page mystery about a girl sleuth named Kerry Blue. It wasn't until almost two decades later that her dreams of becoming a published author were realized, when her first book, Almost Twins, was released in 1991 from Willowisp Press. She has since sold over 25 books, including MY SISTER THE GHOST, CHEER SQUAD, and REGENERATION series. When Linda isn't writing, she enjoys reading, taking brisk walks, camping, swimming, and bowling. She lives with her husband, David, and their two kids, Andy and Melissa, on five country acres near Sacramento, California. They have a menagerie of animals: dogs, cats, horses and pigs. 5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely done!, March 9, 2006

This is a great teen mystery, with a break-neck pace, characters you relate to, and some interesting twists along the way. I confess, I love the teen-mystery-with-supernatural-undertones genre, but this is definitely a stand-out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, April 19, 2003

Double Vision is a compelling story that starts out as a teen mystery, then takes on science fiction tones that add another layer of urgency. Haley is a believable character, and you worry with her as she puzzles out the differences in the parallel world and attempts to prevent the events that happened in that world from repeating in hers. An excellent story!

5.0 out of 5 stars This one is gooooood!, May 23, 2003
This review is from: Double Vision (Paperback)
It all started with The Watcher! Haley was with her family at a restaurant when her eyes locked with his. At first glance he looked like an ordinary teen, but his eyes radiated danger and menace. Bravely Haley corned him only to have him vanish! By accident, the guy had left behind a pair of glasses with reflective dark lenses and seven wings carved in the frames.

When Haley wore the glasses it all looked like the world she knew, however, much was different. For example, cats do NOT wear collars that allowed them to talk and ask you to scratch them behind their ears, right? Wary of the sunglasses, Haley was unable to decide whether to destroy them or keep using them.

Haley knew she simply HAD to figure out what the glasses really were and how to work them. The glasses were her only hope to prevent a murder.

I have found that when I see a book with the names L.J. Singleton OR Linda Joy Singleton there is no need to read the back. No matter what it is about, it is going to be great. This story is no exception. It contains a fascinating plot and some interesting theories to boggle the mind. I loved every minute and recommend it highly.

More About the Author

From Linda Joy Singleton:

When I was 9, I wrote a short story about a cat named Taben and stapled it into a "book" with pictures, too. A year later I rewrote the book, writing it neater, adding chapter titles, and putting games in the back. I didn't know it then but I was "revising" my work, an early step to learning how to become a writer.

When I was 14, I challenged myself to type a chapter a day over my 2 week Christmas vacation, and I finished a book (200 pages) in two weeks. This was an important achievement to me because I proved to myself that I could finish a book. Up until then I had many starts but only one "finish."

So you'd think I was poised to become a young published author? Maybe...but life jumped ahead of my dreams. I started working at age 17 plus had a short marriage. I didn't dust off my writing dreams until I was 27 and a mother of toddlers. I started off small, writing in the evening when my husband was home to help with the kids. By the time they were in school, I had a schedule of writing in the mornings. I sold my first book when I was 30, a chapter book called ALMOST TWINS. Someday (when I'm quite famous) this will be my more rare book since only a few thousand were ever printed and it was only sold in school book fairs. My first book never made it to bookstores.

My 36th book, THE SEER #6. MAGICIAN'S MUSE, came out in 2010. And in 2012, a spinoff from THE SEER starring Thorn, BURIED, comes out in March. Also, I'm working on a big world-creating book now that will be my biggest achievement yet...stay tuned for more dreams coming true.
