Stan & Ollie's final silent film,
By
This review is from: Double Whoopee [VHS] (VHS Tape)
SYNOPSIS--
Hired as an exclusive hotel's doorman (Ollie) and coachman (Stan), the boys are at first mistaken for newly-arrived royalty. Once the royal party DOES present itself, L&H assume their new jobs. Sight gags include elevator problems, hassles with cabbies and Jean Harlow's skirt hem getting caught in a revolving door. DOUBLE WHOOPEE was the very last of the Laurel & Hardy silent shorts. Their first "talkie" (released soon after) was UNACCUSTOMED AS WE ARE (1929). Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 viewer poll rating found at a film resource website. (7.1) Double Whoopee (1929) - Stan Laurel/Oliver Hardy/Jean Harlow/William Gillespie/Tiny Sandford/Ed Brandenburg/Charlie Hall/Ham Kinsey/Sam Lufkin |
