WOW! Hard to believe I'm the only one who didn't give this book 5 stars.

The book is not a How To ... like the subtitle suggests. It does have some useful ideas about various aspects of business (vision, communication, hiring, metrics), though none of them are ground breaking. But what disappointed was the lack of a coherent process as the title indicated. His only process is to create a vision for where your company should be in 3 years then start working on all these other aspects - but he doesn't give any way to prioritize or structure the process. I suspect he does this better in his one-on-one consulting which this book seems designed to promote.

In addition, most of the advice seems to be geared toward small companies - ie those without an HR person - despite his stories of coaching at very large companies.

The marketing and PR sections also seem slanted toward consumer oriented companies rather than B2B.

He relies heavily on his experience with 1-800-GOTJUNK and College Pro Painters. The latter company is not that well regarded in my experience and I thought the former company was until I read a piece in this book where revenue fell because they ran out of franchises to sell. It occurs to me that a franchise company that makes most of it's money from selling franchises rather than the royalty of selling products or services is probably asking to be a flash in the pan. Good thing Herold got out when he did.

You'll probably get some good ideas reading this book - but if you read a lot of business books you'll have seen many (maybe all) of the ideas in other places. Just don't expect it to be a step by step recipe.

I'm an avid reader. I blow thru at least 2-5 books every week and have ready over 2000 books in the past 10 years. There are less than 10 books that I've read that I consider to be "game changers." These are books like Good to Great, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Guerrilla Marketing, and The E-Myth. Cameron's book - Double Double has now entered my top ten!

I can't say enough good things about his book, there are over 100+ practical, actionable things that you can put into place ASAP from hiring and motivating to building a great culture, getting free PR and everywhere in between.

Buy this book and I'm confident that even if you apply a few things you've learned you will easily double your business!

Double Double isn't just another business book from an analyst. Cameron has spent the last 20 years running companies, including 1-800-GOT-JUNK! where as COO he helped grow the company from $2 million to $105 million in just six years.

Unlike all those business bestsellers that are filled with theories and projections, Double Double is filled with practical, actionable advice. It's a recipe book for building a world-class company. The goal of the book, according to Herold, is to teach you how to double your business in just three years (which amounts to just under 30% annual growth).

I was so inspired after reading the book I immediately got a fresh notebook out and started brainstorming ideas for my company.

Double Double is an excellent road map for growing your company. Even if you have been running companies for more than ten years like me, you will learn something from reading this book.

I brought this book because I heard Cameron on a webinar. It was discussing the painted picture. His story and his ideas really connected with me. So I quickly purchased the book and started reading it. I was hooked- I got out paper and pencil and started jotting down a few ideas. On my way to work - I would often picture my future business- so I would again jot down a few ideas. This book has really sparked something in me. I have shared my experience with others, and told them about the contents of the book and they too have purchased the book.

This book has inspired me to change my home office around to reflect my painted picture (working backwards - you will totally understand once you've purchased the book).

Although the author references a lot of big companies, is steps can easily be implemented into a small business.

This book is geared for growing companies with employees although I no employees there were still tons of take-away's several of which I have implemented and seen immediate results.

As an example if you don't have 2 monitors set up at your desk you are wasting time, I bought a 2nd monitor and it's amazing how much easier it is with 2 monitors, that is one of many examples.

I will definitely be re visiting this book again when the solutions and tips are more relevant for my current situation.

If you have staff it is that much more valuable to you.

I have gone back to this book multiple times for practical advice and insight for growing our company. We just finished the rough draft of our painted picture, and that process alone has generated huge ideas that have already been put in place for growing the business. The results are already showing. Don't read the book if you aren't going to actually engage in implementing some discipline. Be ready to take some action.
