I purchased this after reviewing as many "single monitor" stands as I could find. I wanted something stable that didn't have a ridiculously large and obtrusive base. This stand's base is great. It's very heavy and flat and it doesn't spread out so far that it obstructs where you want to position other important items on your desk... like your keyboard. I also wanted a stand that would elevate my monitor to a comfortable level... I thought I would be using it as the maximum height but it turns out that the "best position" for me was actually closer the the smallest, lowest height you can set it. (I have a 24" Asus monitor, from desk to the bottom of monitor I measure 6 and 1/2 inches of space... from desk to middle of VESA connector I measure about 14"... I'm 5'11" for reference)

Couple of items to be aware of:

- My stand came with the "tilt" positioned slightly downward... I installed the monitor before realizing it. In order to correct the tilt I had to unscrew the monitor entirely to work the tilt mechanism because it was so tight. Not a big problem but make sure you are happy with the tilt angle before you fully commit to screwing in all the screws for the VESA connector. Made it tight again and all is well.

- The height is handled by a spring loaded mechanism that wants to make the stand "full height" all the time. It is kept in check by a screwing mechanism on the back... tighten it and the spring can't expand and push the pole height upward. One reviewer said he wanted divots every half inch... I much preferred having no divots so I'm able to adjust to the perfect height in as minimal increments as possible (centimeters or even millimeters...) I did NOT notice any problems with the mechanism springing up...

I have purchased a few monitor stands for 23 - 24 inch monitors but recently upgraded to a 27 inch IPS unit.

Wanted one that would swivel so I could view the monitor in portrait mode and this fits the bill.

Only issue I have had was the lowest setting in the height adjustment could be about 3 inches lower.

Just note that if you haven't had a 27 inch monitor before its a big difference from a 23 inch - I actually prefer 23 - 24 inch monitors and just have 2 of them side by side but the 27 fit my layout for this location.

Overall its a great solution - but for my desk that already sits a little higher than a standard office desk it sits a bit high.

I found this to do the job for my 27" monitor without any issue. It's footprint is fine with the base being fairly flat, but large enough to be very stable. There are adjustments, as much as I need, but I wouldn't consider it "overly" adjustable.

Since I've purchased this, 4 more people in my office have bought the same one and we're all happy with it.

This is probably the best stand of its type. I wanted something that would not tip over in a strong earthquake, if that were to ever happen. Being all steel, it's heavy enough to prevent that from happening. I like that the base is flat. It makes it inconspicuous. I wish there were holes in the base so I could permanently fix it onto a table. Perhaps I could drill holes in it if I wanted to do that.

This paragraph is where I explain why it doesn't get 5 stars. 1) It's 2-3 inches taller than I'd like. 2) The mounting plate is too far forward from the post. On my small desk, the monitor is right up to my face. 3) I thought "pivot" meant left-right movement. What it actually means is rotation from portrait to landscape orientation of the monitor. I guess I was looking for something that "swivels". 4) The inner shaft that moves vertically should have holes or dimples every 1/2" or where you can screw in the fastening knob. Without holes, I have to screw in the knob as tight as possible, but it could still slip, as it already did once when I laid it down flat on its side while trying to mount the monitor. 5) It came with a 4mm Alan wrench, which is only useful to adjust the tightness of the tilt & to remove the plastic vanity cover from the top of the shaft or to remove the bottom of the shaft from the stand. I'm surprised that the mounting bolts didn't require the use of an Alan wrench, which is less prone to stripping. Other than adjusting tilt, the Alan wrench is useless. 6) It also came with 4 zip ties & a belt-buckle type Velcro strap, neither of which has any explanation of what they're for. Presumably they're for securing the stand to a larger object, but I don't see why it's necessary as the stand is adequately secure by itself. 7) Lack of instructions.

It works It holds up my 30" monitor which is my sole reason for purchasing this gargantuan monolith. If you need a stand for a monitor you just bought on ebay but some fool didn't think anyone would want the stand with, then this is the stand you need.
