Book Description

Oh, Doug! A Dragonfly's Day This is the story of Doug, a young dragonfly who wants to be anything except who he truly is. As he tries to be someone other than a wonderful Dragonfly, he gets tired and discouraged. One day a tiny lost bug needs help that only Doug can provide; his strong wings and sure, practiced flying skills rescue this tiny creature. With his cargo safely delivered, he realizes that he has much to offer the world by being the best Dragonfly he can be. Life lessons abound in this book as children are taught to rejoice in who they are and to accept the gifts they are given at birth.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

In my work with children and related to my work with patient caregiving, I saw the need for a book that appealed to children. The story is told in a clear and simple style that shows a child the positive effects of acceptance and working with the gifts they are given at birth. Life lessons abound in this book as children are taught to rejoice in who they are and how wonderful it is to recognize this powerful fact!

5.0 out of 5 stars Doug is precious!, September 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
Doug is typical of what a lot of children are like these days-always thinking that life is better somewhere, or as someone, else. In the end, Doug realizes a valuable life lesson-we must all make the best of our own gifts and talents.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's spectacular!, August 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
It was a creative idea of how you should be yourself, and not anyone else. I thought that Ann Leach is a creative writer and has a creative mind. I liked the story because it showed how you should be yourself and you're special in your own way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for early childhood self image, August 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
DOUG is an excellent resource for my teachers to use in working with students on self-image, acceptance of those around us, and overall self worth. Students respond well to text and illustrations by the author and illustrator. This is a welcome addition to our school counseling collection.
