5.0 out of 5 stars Doug is precious!, September 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
Doug is typical of what a lot of children are like these days-always thinking that life is better somewhere, or as someone, else. In the end, Doug realizes a valuable life lesson-we must all make the best of our own gifts and talents.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's spectacular!, August 28, 1999

It was a creative idea of how you should be yourself, and not anyone else. I thought that Ann Leach is a creative writer and has a creative mind. I liked the story because it showed how you should be yourself and you're special in your own way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for early childhood self image, August 10, 1999

This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
DOUG is an excellent resource for my teachers to use in working with students on self-image, acceptance of those around us, and overall self worth. Students respond well to text and illustrations by the author and illustrator. This is a welcome addition to our school counseling collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh, Doug! is a book all children can relate to., July 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
Younger children will enjoy the bright, colorful characters. Older children will understand the message "be happy with who you are". In this stressful time of peer pressure and violence, children of all ages need this message to be happy with themselves. Oh, Doug! is the perfect gift for my nieces, nephews and grandchildren!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book for children!!, July 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
I bought this book for our 5-year-old son to tell him that being himself is really OK. Ann has a strong but simple message, and that is to remember who you are, even as a child! Kindergarten has introduced a lot of new things to him, other kids, situations, choices. I wanted someone besides his Mother and Father to tell him that standing strong and believing in who you are is important! He loves the pictures and the message is told in just the right tone to make him think. If Ann Leach decides to write other books addressing children's issues, I will be at the head of the line to purchase them.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son adores this book, June 26, 2003

This review is from: Oh Doug! A Dragonfly's Day (Paperback)
Doug the Dragonfly helped to tell my son something that I couldn`t get across to him. He is four years old but in 1st grade. The other chilren beat him up just about everyday during recess. I tried to explain to him that he is vonerable because he is so young. He is a bright child but was unable to get the point I was trying to make. Then one of my freinds from Springfield, Mo sent this book to me. He simply told me to give my son the book and let him read it by himself. My son, to my suprise, came out of his room and said to me, "dad, I like who I am". I was absolutly astounished. Three weeks later he invited one of the bullies to spend the night at our house, and they have been best friends ever since. Of all the childrens books my child owns this is the only one that has had such a large impact on his self-esteem. Ann Leach seems to understand a childs thought processes, and Russell Aldredge has the visual impact to follow.
