This review is from: Douglas Fir Veneer 2 x 8 Sheet Flexwood 10 mil paperback (Misc.)
I purchased this piece of veneer to make panels in an oak bar. It looked great, and I wound up using more pieces of it as accent material in several other places around the room. The surface is even and well-sanded, the grain is nicely matched, and it stained up very uniformly. The backing made the veneer quite easy to work with, and it could be curled and rolled with no cracking whatsoever. Since I had a little extra to work with, and I was planning on putting trim over the edges anyway, I tried the easy route and cut the pieces with a heavy pair of scissors rather than a blade. It worked surprisingly well; I got neat edges, quickly and easily. I applied it with contact cement and put a few coats of varnish over once it cured. There has been no buckling or bubbling in the couple months since. It still looks great and has proven durable (of course the varnish doesn't hurt). It's an all-around nice-looking, easy-to-work-with product. |
