5.0 out of 5 stars "Dove" by Lisbeth Scott is amazing
I heard this CD with a friend who had just bought it and it blew my mind.
I really don't know how to describe the life changing effect this music had on me. I got goosebumps listening to every song. Her voice reminds me a little of Sinead O'Connor and a little of Enya. Her music is so unique!!!! It's like combining folk music with orchestra and some Irish influences...

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
Lisbeth Scott sings on two songs on the album 'Earthbound' by Paul Schwartz, both of which are so good they give me goose-bumps. So, I was inspired to buy this album.

I was extremely disappointed to find it completely mediocre, with not a single song that even held my attention, let alone my interest. Clearly, my taste differs from that of the other people who have...

Her music is so unique!!!! It's like combining folk music with orchestra and some Irish influences. But it's still like pop music. Her lyrics are so poetic.!!!The words take me on a trip!!!! It's like going somewhere you've never been before. Even the art work on the CD book and the CD is incredible!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic. Mezmerizing. Masterful., May 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Dove (Audio CD)
Melodic. Mezmerizing. Masterful. Lisbeth Scott has crafted a compelling portait of love with her third solo offering, Dove. Her sound brilliantly soars above the ever-condeming cage of categorization and tranports listeners to a lush and intimate landscape of truth. That is not an easy task for any artist to accomplish. But accomplished Lisbeth is. At the heart of this impressive collection is her voice. It takes an accomplished vocalist like Ms. Scotts to convey the explicitly naked and revealing nature of her lyrics. A poet with a voice! Playing up her strengths, Lisbeth boldly pushes her vocals to the forefront and doesn't mire the songwriting by over-producing the tracks. She also surrounds herself with an impressive cast of players. Most notably Bernie Locker, who co-produced a track and does some incredible guitar work, and Nathan Barr, who also co-produces a couple of tracks and provides some wonderful instrumentation. The sound is bright, which is another compliment to her production. The most immediately accessible song is "You". With its beautiul melody and catchy chorus, it will surely draw in the most casual of listeners. But it's hard to remain a pedestrian listener in such an absorbing album. While "Beg" delicately builds to a beautiful crescendo, "Smokehouse" breaks the rules of conventional songwriting by throwing away the chorus and instead creates a hauntingly beautiful landcape of unrequited love. Lisbeth takes on a mystical tone with the Middle-Eastern influenced track "Push the River" and vents her enduring optimism on the rocking "Clear". And at the centerpiece of the album is "Crucial", a deceptively sophisticated song that sneaks up on you and hits you with lines like, "..everbody that my fingers touch I'm touching you." Simple and arresting. Lisbeth, both brave and vulnerable, explored the many landscapes of love, discovering simple truths for herself and left with a song in her heart. Take the time to discover this CD for yourself, you will also leave with a song in your heart. Slow down, stop, breathe, listen, explore and just be. That's the point Lisbeth is making, isn't it? Listen and you decide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrilled!, May 24, 2002

I was turned on to this album after hearing Lisbeth's incredible work on Paul Schwartz's album State of Grace - her voice and lyrics moved me so much on the track entitled Be Still My Soul that I had to find out who she was and if she had any solo work. I was ecstatic to see that she has just released a new album entitled Dove. I was thrilled to find that she is an incredible song writer in her own right. Her voice has an incredible range that spans from breathy Enya-esque to raw and emotional. I give this album a big thumbs up and recommend it to anyone looking for a new and moving musical experience.

Like others, I bought this CD after hearing Lisbeth sing on Paul Schwartz's "State of Grace." While this CD is good and her voice is really great, these songs aren't the sort to really showcase her vocal talent at its full potential. Good CD, though, but never a moment that makes you go "WOW."
