As a 45-year professor of music, composer, and author, I'd like to say that Marshall Coid's singing of Dowland
songs here is among the great vocal performances I have
ever experienced. Every aspect from vocal quality and articulation of the text to carrying of the vocal line, expressive inflection, and wonderfully conceived ornamentation is far beyond any other...

The last cut on this CD is worth the price of admission. Elsewhere the virginal and lute playing is nice and the soprano sounds authentic. The notes are useful. Personally I like vocals a bit ` softer' then this countertenor although that is sometimes deemed less `historically correct'.
