Best Punk cd of the year?,
By Killjoy "badspud81" (Ottawa, Ont. (Can.)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Down Below (Audio CD)
The sound bites on this page don`t do this album justice; where this cd shines is on the choruses. Steve Zing`s voice is somewhere between Joey Ramone`s (Ramones) and Michael Graves` (newer Misfits), and it fits the music perfectly. This is Punk Rock, not hardcore or thrash, so speed isn`t the main focus and neither is aggression (although there are shots of both); this album focuses on songwriting, and it pays off in a big way. I can`t recommend this highly enough.

From begining to end this has got to be one of the greatest punk records in a long time. Lately I've grown sick and tired of this wave of Bubblegum "pop punk" trying to pass itself off as PUNK. It's refreshing to have an album like this come out and rekindle my love and passion for the music scene. DOOMTREE is punk/metal in it's purest form. It'll make you headbang till your ears bleed. Just make sure you play it excruciatingly loud like GOD intended it to be heard. Go out and get this record. You won't be disappointed.

Doomtree - 'Down Below' (Long Live Crime),
By
This review is from: Down Below (Audio CD)
Looks to be this New Jersey's emo metal band's first and only (so far) and hopefully not their last CD. Fans of the Ramones, Danzig and possibly Motorhead or even Monster Magnet should really get something good out of this eleven track disc - relatively short at a duration of under thirty minutes. Tunes I dug the most were the *ss-kicking "Alive And Well", "Seven Lives", the awesome "Don't Ask Why" and "A Perfect Way". Personnel: Steve Zing (Son Of Sam, Samhain)-vocals, Steve Falco-lead guitar, Ronnie Borje-rhythm guitar, Danno-bass and John Calton-drums. Wouldn't mind catching this punk-metal five piece on tour sometime.
