About the Author

Following a path much like his famous father, Skeeter Skelton, the author spent 5 years as a New Mexico State Policemen and 14 years as a Federal Criminal Investigator, his current occupation. Bart's cowboy way of storytelling and writing, depicts life on the border with all it's endless adventures and illustrates the harshness and beauty of the Southwest. Share his sometimes strange and captivating encounters with outlaws, his inspirational visits and memories with heroes and just plain shenanigans with shady carousers. Stories that will make you laugh, or make you yarn for your lost or traded treasures, but all the while they will either entertain you or educate you. A lesson in every story, but maybe not the way you''d think."Like father, like son: Bart and Skeeter Skelton, two of the most talented gun writers ever to pen a thought." Guns & Ammo Magazine 500th addition. November 2001 I think Bart is leaving some footprint''s of his own. Every time I think of what a Law Man "should be", I think of what Bart Skelton is and has always been....the finest!!! I know I''m very proud of Bart and I''m lucky enough to even call him my friend. 5.0 out of 5 stars Humorous adventurous., March 3, 2004

I found myself being able to visualize the desert, fell the heat of the region and Florida mountains that Skelton speaks of. His writing is extrememly visual and you can almost feel the breath of the bad guys on the back of your neck.

Skelton finds the humor and idiosyncrisies in human nature as we try to finagle our way through life. The characters that he has come in contact with through his law enforcement career, has got to make you think that humor is the best medicine. The one thing that will carry you through the day.

I would highly recommend Down on the Border to get a taste of life in the deserts of the South west. You will find that every chapter will make you laugh and wanting to read more.

The illustrations were fantastic and comical and added to the humurous nature of adventures. The introduction with J. Jackson was truely rewarding seeing, as it demostrates Cops helping cops. Their lives and tales parrallel no matter where they are.

They should be rewarded highly for their service. Thank you for making an insane world seem humorous. I enjoyed the laughs.

This review is from: Down on the Border: A Western Lawman's Journal (Paperback)
As a dedicated reader of Skeeter Skelton for many years, I have to say that son Bart writes with the same level of enthusiasm, wit, and knowledge of firearms and desert lore as did his father. I am sure Skeeter's grin is a mile wide as he and sidekick Bill Jordan observe from Heaven how popular an author Bart has become.

4.0 out of 5 stars True Tales of South Of The Border, April 28, 2010

This review is from: Down on the Border: A Western Lawman's Journal (Paperback)
This book written by Bart Skelton a lawman in his own right is an inspiration to ALL Southwestern lawmen. It talks about some of his personal wild west experiences working as a law enforcement officer in the Sonoran Border. Some of them funny and some all but too serious. I really enjoyed his book, I have been reading his material since I was a member of G&A Magazine... He talks about, Snake, Col. Quiroz, and others alike... This is one good purchase... Give it a shot, sit back and get ready for a trip Down On The Border.
