My 2-year-old daughter LOVES this book. I often find her in her room reading to herself, saying, "Frog goes, "Weee!" Duck goes, 'Flap!" Down by the cool of the pool!" She reads it 100 times a day, and makes me read it at least three times, too. I highly recommend it

My 2 year old daughter LOVES this book. She has almost memorized it word for word and has made up hand motions to go with it. It is a lively, adorable rhyme and the colorful illustrations are wonderful.

My 4 year old daughter is very picky about the books she likes, they have to be colorful and fun. This is one of her favorites. The bright fun story gets an A+ from her, this is her must read book everyday.

Charming illustrations, but didn't capture this toddler's attention,

This seemed like such a great book, and I was sure that my toddler son would love it. Unfortunately, he has been completely indifferent to it. I thought the language was fun and witty, and the illustrations festive, but it hasn't managed to capture his attention in the least, and he has yet to sit through one full reading of it. Perhaps some day he'll learn to like it, but for now it sits unread on our shelf. But it's a beautiful little book, and the frog on the cover makes at least momma smile, if not baby.

Confessional and Premature Love,

This review is from: Down by the Cool of the Pool (Hardcover)
This is the parent's favorite of children's book to date. Keep this in mind though, the kid-to-be has only 5 books currently in his nascent library and the big thumbs up comes from two overly enthusiastic and gate jumping before the gun expectant parents. That's right; we have been reading this book to the belly for the last week and absolutely love it. I can't speak for the life growing within, but the book has rhythm, bright colors, goofy animals, a lively story, and enough little details to keep readers enrapt studying the words, hoping and anticipating what comes next. The illustrations are a work of art with beautiful rich color. Each page has an animal at the periphery that will show up featured en-scene on the next page. If the life that shows up in 3 months time doesn't absolutely love it, Mom and Dad will sneak off to a closed room and read it in joy and glee.

This is a great book that we have read over and over. It has a great rhythm to it and is fun to read. My daughter loves to dance in all the different animal styles. Great book!

The book is a favorite. The front of the book had a small crease but I use it with clients all the time to teach them vowel sounds.

Joyful paintings and cute story; fun to read,

What a joy this book is! If I had known I would like it so much I would have bought it in hardcover instead of the cheaper, softcover, Scholastic edition. The pictures are really adorable. The artist poses each animal in the most unusual and dynamic way as they dance. The story is rhythmic and fun to read to my children. I love the concept of a wild and happy animal dance party that gleefully spills over into the cool pool. Very fun to see and imagine.

Fun book for preschooler,

My preschooler loves reading this book. He enjoys looking for the bugs that reappear on every page. Our preschool has made this one of their primary books for preschoolers and I can see why!
