5.0 out of 5 stars classic!
You will love this album! Even after all these years it brings a smile to my face and one of the songs even brings a tear to my eye. I loved it as a kid and hope to pass it on to my own kids someday!

3.0 out of 5 stars Where are The Creek Bank Singers?
From the moment the CD arrived, I realized that something was askew. From the moment the CD arrived, I realized that something was askew. The only date on the album is 2003, and aside from copyright information about the songs, there's nothing in the CD booklet -- not even a list of the singers. The original LP had different cover art and a gatefold with the lyrics, cast list (The Creek Bank Singers, who were credited as such on the front cover) and photos.

When I put the CD in, it was instantly clear that the 25th anniversary edition is ABSOLUTELY NOT the original recording. The case vaguely boasts that it's "the same gang as before, but this time they are captured on newly re-recorded digital soundtracks." The songs and narration are the same, but it's like expecting to hear a beloved Beatles album and instead hearing a cover album by The Bootles -- it's the same, but it's not the same.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor completely new version, October 3, 2008

This CD is NOT the original recording. Instead of the folksy, acoustic original, this CD uses mostly synthesized instruments and highly studio-ized vocals and acting. Gone are Dottie Rambo and the real kids. Please re-release the original!!!! Don't bother buying this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the original singers, March 11, 2009
This review is from: Down by the Creek Bank (Anniversary) (Audio CD)
My sister gave my son a tape and workbook when he was only 4 years old, that was 27 years ago. The tape doesn't play anymore. My nephew was teaching his little daughter the song "Germs" and couldn't remember all the words. I was delighted when we found this cd and book on line. I ordered 2 cd's, 2 workbooks and 2 music books. I was so disappointed when I listened to the cd. It was not the original children. This is more of a modern production. The little girl who sang the original "Germs" had such a precious little child's voice, it had reminded me of my little niece who sang the songs so long ago. She is 31 now. I gave it to my nephew anyway and they didn't seem to notice the difference because his little 4 year old had never heard the original. They are enjoying it so much. The old workbook also had the music in it as well so you could sing the songs from the book and didn't need to purchase the sheet music book. I say buy it as long as you don't expect the original singers. They should tell you and let you decide for yourselves.

I grew up listening to the sweet and silly songs and Narration of Dotti Rambo's Down by the Creek Bank. Now my kids love it as much as I did! It has a strong christian message that stirs up conversations with my kids about God. Apparently, it's timeless! I'm so glad I was able to find it on Amazon!

My children enjoy and listen to it. I forgot how much music it was and how little talking. My 6 year old son likes all of its jokes (when he gets them).
