4.0 out of 5 stars A solid start for these Vallejo MC's
Many heads overlooked The Click's debut album "Down & Dirty", and didn't catch on to these dope cats until they dropped "Game Related". If you are one of those people who still haven't picked up "Down & Dirty", this is your wake up call! Produced mostly by Studio Tone, Mike Mosley & Sambostic, the beats all pack The Click's...

Many heads overlooked The Click's debut album "Down & Dirty", and didn't catch on to these dope cats until they dropped "Game Related". If you are one of those people who still haven't picked up "Down & Dirty", this is your wake up call! Produced mostly by Studio Tone, Mike Mosley & Sambostic, the beats all pack The Click's signature 'thump'. You need not even question the illness of the lyrics with such song titles as "She Was Only 16" and "Mr. Flamboyant". ***NOTE: If you can still find the original release of this CD, get it becuz it contains Party In The V-Town, Sahabs, Porno Star, Daily Routine and Ballers, all of which are songs that were cut from the newer, Jive Records version of this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the original, Get the Best, October 25, 2002

The original version of this album is one of the best rap albums ever made. I'm guessing that when the Click signed with Jive they sold them this album as part of their back catalog and Jive didn't want to clear all of the samples on the original so they redid all of the songs with horrible beats. My local record store was able to order the original joint directly from Sick Wid It Records (the Click's label). Although it does not have a couple of songs that were on the original tape ... it does have the best of the original Click songs: Let's Get Drunk, On a Mission, Mr. Flamboyant, Street Life, Daily Routine. The beats are amazing and the use of samples is something you just don't hear anymore now that lawers and corporate labels have ruined the original spirit of rap. Like the GZA says "read the labels" and pick up the original version of this album if you can find it!

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not the original, January 19, 2004

This review is from: Down & Dirty (Audio CD)
This is garbage because it is not the original. The original had 16 songs the best being "Let's Side". This version does not have any of the music samples that made it the most unique rap album of all time. When E-40 came out with the original "Down and Dirty" in 1991 It was by far the most talked about album on the streets. But leave it to those idiot's at the record company that purchased the rights to this album to force E-40 to rewrite the songs and rerelease this watered down version post 1993. What a sad day in history. If you can find it look for the original in small used cd stores. I have the original on tape put it is slowly deteriorating because I play so much. Even after 12 years it still is the most hard hitting rap album of all time, The original that is. Not this water down garbage.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL????, May 10, 2002

This has got to be the worst load of [junk] that I can think of! Why in hell anyone would try to remix an album that was tight from the jump, I'll never know! What I do know is, you can bypass this sorry excuse for a remix and try to find the original tracks in MP3. I have a couple of them, but not all! I give this a 1 (Which would have been a negative 1 if I was able). Very horrible! Not worth buying AT ALL!!! If anyone wants the original cuts to "Let's Get Drunk" or "Mr. Flamboyant", catch me on DirectConnect. I am in the oOMP3000Oo hub at IP: mp3000.i989.net:1411. I am [MP3]NeoStarScream, an Operator!

A lot of you think this is there first national record to rise to stardom but in actualality N2DEEP Back to the hotel put E-40 and B-legit to the gold record artist status that they were bound to achieve.this record didn't achieve that status but more than should've.if your someone who is a pure click fan the song V-town on back to the hotel is one to get. When this record was first released independently samples weren't cleared and when jive picked it up they chose not to clear them and took them of the record. bad decision.they have sold around 400,000 copies of this yet this a bay classic. It still will most likely go gold but it would make it there faster if they would bring back the original album. These 4 artists have tried to hold down the westcoast while the rest of the west has been and stayed on vacation. If you don't have this record get it but if possible hit a store that has the original copy not the edited version.

This is a ol school classic these guys are spittin so much game. I wish they didn't cut no songs for the remake on the new Jive lable. The original had songs like Sohab, a duet E-40 did with his sister Sugar-T. B-Legit classic daily routine is tight too if anyone have the original I will pay top dollar if in top condition. tonsalini@hotmail.com

I have to give this version a three, but the original is off the charts. I hope if/when E-40/Click releases a greatest hits they include some stuff off the original Down and Dirty, especially the last song Let's Side. I am also willing to pay top dollars for a copy of the original.
