Although I used "Teaching Peace" in my preschool classroom, it wasn't until I saw/heard Red Grammer perform at a teacher's convention that I became a fan. Or should I say, groupie? He not only performs, he entertains. And better still - he offers a variety of ways to use his music with groups of children. His voice is wonderful (John Denver-ish, which is meant as a great compliment!)and many songs have just the right amount of silly to keep children of all ages entertained. My class loves the scat-like ending of Down the Do-Re-Mi that they can sing along to as much as they love acting out Down By the Sea. There are poetically beautiful songs (Land of the Silver Birch),camp classics (Rattlin'Bog), and motivational songs (Two hands, four hands). Wonderful.

We've listened to this many, many times and still enjoy it. It is great for the car. "Down By The Sea" is great for a trip to or from the beach. We memorized "The ABC's of You" to sing to a beloved relative.

My daughter's eyes (she's 4 months) light up as the first few notes of this CD start. They are great and catchy songs that are easy to sing and follow, with fun stories. One of our favorites!

For years I've been hearing about Red Grammar, but only recently have I listened to his songs. My sister-in-law introduced my three-year-old son to his music, and it was an instant hit. Down the Do Re Mi is terrific fun. We love every song. My son's favorite is "The Rattlin' Bog." Mine is "Down By the Sea." Every song is catchy and fun to sing along with. Each one captures the fun of being a child. We can't stop singing these songs, or listening.

My 2 1/2 and 1 year old sons can't get enough of this. They both immediately loved all of the songs. After listening to it at least 500 times the past couple of weeks, we can all sing the songs by heart - even the babysitter!

I havn't listened to him since elementary school. That was awhile ago. I'm 24 now. But must say just listening to these songs (or preview) makes me so want to buy the cd for my kids. I loved him as a child. I learned his whole cd quickly and loved it. We each throughout the whole elementary school song like 1 or 2 songs from his cd (this one) and then we all song brothers and sisters. He came to our school. It was so awesome. All dressed up with bandans and what not. I seriously remember this like it was yesterday and I think I was in 2nd grade. There are times I remember in school and this was def. one of them. My brother was in like 1st grade.

I remember seeing Red perform at my school when I was about 8 years old. I just adored him and his music- I had this tape, and played it over and over and over again until it drove my family crazy! I wore it out I listened to it so often. Now I have a daughter, And I love sharing Red's music with her. She loves Red just as much as I used to growing up. :)

I was first introduced to this artist when I worked in daycare many years ago. We would play the tape during naptime, and I just fell in love with the songs and Red Grammer. My favorite songs are "Grandfather's Clock" and "Land of the Silver Birch". Now many years later I have the CD to play for my youngest son, who is 3, and we love singing "Down By the Sea" on the way to and from his daycare everyday. Red Grammer has an amazing voice and an equally amazing spirit. He and his wife have a geniune love for children and it shows in their work. I am definitely looking into getting his more recent work, and even his music for adults. I'd recommend Down the Do-Re-Mi for anyone who has a child and you want to provide them with wholesome, fun songs that they will love forever.

i was going through an old box of photographs while looking for some to put in my graduation slideshow. then i went through my mother's desk looking for more and i find 'down the do re mi' and 'teaching peace' on a tape. it's probably been a decade since i last listened to this tape. i started crying listening to the grandfather's clock song, and even the silly songs brought back great memories. i remembered the lyrics to all the songs once they started playing again, which i suppose isn't too surprising because i probably drove my parent's crazy when i'd listen to this over and over for years. this is the music that all kids should have a chance to listen to and sing along with, not the worthless pop crap that is the only thing most of them are exposed to now.
