5.0 out of 5 stars Something For Everyone, March 9, 2001

This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
This is one of the most solid and least hyped soundtrack cd's I've ever heard. By far, the best song on the CD is Monica's bumpin' Just Another Girl (there's no better female vocalist) but a close 2nd's the very underrated Ruff Endz and their SomeOne To Love You. Jagged Edge and Kelly Rowland have pretty good tracks also. There a few weak tracks from artists like 3LW but its diverse mix makes this a good album and the movie's pretty damn good too so check it out if you're a Chris Rock fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2001 starts off with a bang for soundtracks, February 16, 2001

This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
After a very good year for movie soundtracks in 2000 with the likes Love And Basketball, Nutty Professor II, Romeo Must Die etc.. 2001 comes in roaring with the soundtrack to Down To Earth with a very impressive line up Ginuwine, The Roots, Jill Scott, Monica, Jagged Edge.. The Soundtrack gets jumpin with the first single from Monica Just Another Girl, a very good song to start 2001 for her having people anticipate her next CD. Ginuwine comes in with the uptempo track Can You Tell It's Me this song is a little different from what you usually expect from Ginuwine but it still a good song.. Sticky Fingaz is on board with the very funny track What If I Was White . I agree with reviewer " James Highsmith" that it would even been better if Mr. Slim Shady Eminem would have drop a verse instead of just doing the hook..But, nevertheless it's one of the highlites on this disc ..

Best moments on this disc come on two of the best r&b tracks Ruff Endz sensational Someone To Love You and Jill Scott w/ newcomer Eric Roberson " One Time" both of these songs are very good.. Othernoteworthy tracks Jagged Edge " Dreamed You" as an added bonus on the CD you get the classic Snoop Dogg cut Gin And Juice and a big hit from Lauryn Hill a couple years ago Everything Is Everything.. All n All a pretty good soundtrack

Make it part of your collection.. You will be glad that you did

4.0 out of 5 stars ......Very down to earth, February 15, 2001

After a good year in the soundtrack department in the year 2000 with "Romeo Must Die", "Big Momma's House", "Love And Basketball", "Nutty Professor 2", etc., the "Down To Earth" soundtrack gets things started for the year 2001. The CD starts out with an impressive song which is by The Roots & Amel Larrieux, "Glitches". This song will have you anticipating the solo release from The Roots frontman Black Thought that should be out some time this year. Sticky Fingers also shows up with Detroit's finest, Eminem on a track called "What If I Was White". The track is hilarious but Sticky Fingers, formerly of Onyx, does a good job on the track. Things would have even been better if Eminem, who just does the hook, would have dropped a verse, but this is still a tight song. However, the best thing about this soundtrack is the r&b music on it. Miss Thang, Monica shows up with the first single off the soundtrack, "Just Another Girl". This is definitely a good way for Monica to come back out because this song is tight. Other tight r&b songs on this soundtrack are "One Time" with Jill Scott & Eric Roberson, "Someone To Love You" with Ruff Endz, and "Dreamed You" with Jagged Edge. Overall, this soundtrack is a good one. You even get "Gin & Juice" with Snoop Doggy Dogg and "Everything Is Everything" with Lauryn Hill
