5.0 out of 5 stars Something For Everyone
This is one of the most solid and least hyped soundtrack cd's I've ever heard. By far, the best song on the CD is Monica's bumpin' Just Another Girl (there's no better female vocalist) but a close 2nd's the very underrated Ruff Endz and their SomeOne To Love You. Jagged Edge and Kelly Rowland have pretty good tracks also. There a few weak tracks from artists like 3LW...

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars this is some good stuff...
I am very impressed by this soundtrack. Not only is it upbeat and exciting, but also well known rappers and singers on the album. Overall, i recommend this cd for all ages above 17, because of the lyrics. A good soundtrack behind a great movie!

4.0 out of 5 stars 2001 starts off with a bang for soundtracks, February 16, 2001

After a very good year for movie soundtracks in 2000 with the likes Love And Basketball, Nutty Professor II, Romeo Must Die etc.. 2001 comes in roaring with the soundtrack to Down To Earth with a very impressive line up Ginuwine, The Roots, Jill Scott, Monica, Jagged Edge.. The Soundtrack gets jumpin with the first single from Monica Just Another Girl, a very good song to start 2001 for her having people anticipate her next CD. Ginuwine comes in with the uptempo track Can You Tell It's Me this song is a little different from what you usually expect from Ginuwine but it still a good song.. Sticky Fingaz is on board with the very funny track What If I Was White . I agree with reviewer " James Highsmith" that it would even been better if Mr. Slim Shady Eminem would have drop a verse instead of just doing the hook..But, nevertheless it's one of the highlites on this disc ..

Best moments on this disc come on two of the best r&b tracks Ruff Endz sensational Someone To Love You and Jill Scott w/ newcomer Eric Roberson " One Time" both of these songs are very good.. Othernoteworthy tracks Jagged Edge " Dreamed You" as an added bonus on the CD you get the classic Snoop Dogg cut Gin And Juice and a big hit from Lauryn Hill a couple years ago Everything Is Everything.. All n All a pretty good soundtrack

Make it part of your collection.. You will be glad that you did

4.0 out of 5 stars ......Very down to earth, February 15, 2001

After a good year in the soundtrack department in the year 2000 with "Romeo Must Die", "Big Momma's House", "Love And Basketball", "Nutty Professor 2", etc., the "Down To Earth" soundtrack gets things started for the year 2001. The CD starts out with an impressive song which is by The Roots & Amel Larrieux, "Glitches". This song will have you anticipating the solo release from The Roots frontman Black Thought that should be out some time this year. Sticky Fingers also shows up with Detroit's finest, Eminem on a track called "What If I Was White". The track is hilarious but Sticky Fingers, formerly of Onyx, does a good job on the track. Things would have even been better if Eminem, who just does the hook, would have dropped a verse, but this is still a tight song. However, the best thing about this soundtrack is the r&b music on it. Miss Thang, Monica shows up with the first single off the soundtrack, "Just Another Girl". This is definitely a good way for Monica to come back out because this song is tight. Other tight r&b songs on this soundtrack are "One Time" with Jill Scott & Eric Roberson, "Someone To Love You" with Ruff Endz, and "Dreamed You" with Jagged Edge. Overall, this soundtrack is a good one. You even get "Gin & Juice" with Snoop Doggy Dogg and "Everything Is Everything" with Lauryn Hill

4.0 out of 5 stars soundtrack?, January 20, 2004
This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
giving four only cuz the r&b and Hip hop songs, that i like a
lot.
i got disapointed cuz a lot of songs played in the movie
didnt make to this cd, so is this a really movie soundtrack or
whatever.....

There's a lot of good songs indeed , but if you watched the film
and wanted the movie's songs, stay away from this album

Musics wich have been cut off the movie soundtrack that actually
plays on the movie on the funny scenes
Cardigans - my favorite game(played when chris do a non stop phone calls)
Mystical - Shake that ass (played when his thought ex-wife disguised like a black womem and shaking her tries to recover the love from his ded husband "chris rock")
DMX - Ruff Riders (played at the diner when a black guy comes and
hit "crhis rock" in the face.)

I really like this soundtrack. It is a nice mix of R&B and Rap/Hip-Hop. The best tracks are "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg, "Glitches" by The Roots, and "Thug Music Plays On" By Bone-Thugs-n-Harmony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD for a great movie!, February 15, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
This CD is great and has great artists on the CD such as Monica, 3LW, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, and Snoop Dogg. Some of the good songs are "Just Another Girl" and "Gin & Juice", but there are many more. This CD stays in my CD Player all the time. It has a little of everything, but mostly R&B and I'm one of the biggest fans of R&B and of Snoop. And you can't forget my girls' 3LW (they finally came out w/ another single) w/ their hit "Never Let Go". With a CD this good you have to go see the movie which if it's even close to as good as the soundtrack is probably great. I can't wait to go see the movie! Chris Rock is the funniest actor/comedian.

4.0 out of 5 stars hmm, soundtrack?, January 17, 2004
This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
K, here's the deal, giving four just cuz hh and r&b ^^

It has some missing music played on movie on the funny scenes like "DMX - ruff ryders", Mystical - Shake that ass" and an old pop music also played on movie and has been cut off the soundtrack "The cardigans - i'm losing my favorite game"

Too bad for em cutting off those due limitions on cd space or something, the good thing they kept gin & juice from Snoopy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Underrated, June 13, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Down to Earth (Audio CD)
It is a great CD, but it seems that nobody likes the "Thug Music Plays on" by Bone Thugs N' Harmony. It displays their R&B/Rap sound that no other rappers have.
