Monie Love is my favorite female rapper of the late 80's.
There's a load a female rappers that have the skill to rap, But they're voices aren't appealing. There's a few of them out there with appealing voices but lack the skill. Monie Love has the skill and the voice. I haven't heard any other female rappers that are equivelent to her. She's the swiftest female rapper to hit the mic in hiphop history alongside Queen Latifah on her "Nature Of A Sista" record which is spectacular by the way. While making complete sense and Keeping the beat. No, I'm not talking about just rapping fast like some rappers do. You can comprehend every word Monie Love spits out. She pronunciates each word to perfection, She's a talented rapper. As long as I've listened to 80's HipHop have I ever heard or witnessed a female rapper who's as quick as Monie or Latifah on the MIC. Monie Love is not a hardcore rapper and she doesn't curse and still gets her point across without sounding innocent. She's more on the lines of Salt N' Pepa', Run DMC, De La Soul or again, Queen Latifah. Her songs are more focused on 'The art' of rap and how it's done, the activity versus topics, battling or putting down other emcee's which is not bad but it's just not her thing. I'm amazed by her flow. I rated this album 5 stars 'cause lets face it, she's talented, and i'm fascinated at the speed she spits without ever stumbling or getting tongue tied. It sucks that her career was short-lived, only two albums deep. I really enjoyed this album and still blast it like the day it came out.

Monie showed a lot of promise on Ladies First..........,

Monie outshined Latifah on Ladies First, so there were high expectations for Monie's debut. Then she dropped "Down 2 Earth" which was totally left field except for the classic single "Monie in the Middle" and my personal favorite "It's a Shame" featuring the classic Spinners sample.
