5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Test: Kids want to hear it again and see the pictures!
What a great book for me to use in our Rotary Club sponsored reading program with Will Rogers School in Altus, Oklahoma. I enjoy reading and making the farm sounds to the 1st grade class. We, (members of the business community), read twice a week to show how important reading is to us. This book is one of my favorites because it gives them a positive experience with...

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book in the series!, March 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Down on the Funny Farm (Step into Reading, Step 3) (Paperback)
My son and daughter were raised on the Step Into Reading Series and this is clearly the best title in the series. Pre-readers will find the illustrations and animal sounds hilarious. Early readers will be challenged and rewarded time and time again. It is a gem.

3.0 out of 5 stars Down on the Funny Farm, June 16, 2006
A Kid's Review
The story I finished reading is called Down on the Funny Farm. The story is kind of funny. Well the book is adout a farmer that is looking for a farm. Then he went walking looking for a farm. All of a sudden he saw an old man and the old man asked him if he wanted his farm. The farmer asked how much. The old man told him for only one dollar. The farmer said yes and got so happy.

Then when the farmer took a look at the farm. The animals were acting strange. The cat was trying to pull the wagon, hores was on the barn roof, the rooster was burrying a bone, the dog was sitting on a nest, the chiken was rolling in the mud, and the pig was chasing mice. Then the farmer told all the animals what they were supposed to do. Then they did what were born to do. The farmer then got married with a lady so he would not be alone in his farm.

My opinions and recommendations are that the book was okay, but not that okay, because it is not that funny. I recommend it to people that have strange pets and that do not like to read, because it is a small book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Funny Indeed!, February 4, 2006
This review is from: Down on the Funny Farm (Step into Reading, Step 3) (Paperback)
Reading this book is such an enjoyable endeavor to a beginning reader as the funny scenes unfold; we found this to be true with my five year old son.

The surprisingly versatile animals doing what they're not supposed to (horse on roof, cat pulling wagon, etc.) had my son laughing so hard, and the old farmer being so happy to receive such little money for his farm was also a surprise. Every page turned brought another funny surprise, filled with laughter all the way to the end. I laughed just as hard as my youngster! A must read for beginning readers (and their parents!).

The ending had a surprising twist, of course! Read the book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Down on the Funny Farm is pretty entertaining, March 13, 2003

This review is from: Down on the Funny Farm (Step into Reading, Step 3) (Paperback)
This is a pretty good book. I remember reading it when I was a bit younger, and thinking it was pretty funny. Generally, the book is basically funny. The animal sounds will give the young reader some extra creative fun and a pleasant reading experience. The pictures are very amusing, and add significantly to this story's humor. One can easily pick this book up again and again to enjoy the crazy happenings at the Funny Farm.
While it was necessary for the ending of the story, the ironic ending of this book annoyed me. It really isn't a great flaw, and doesn't take anything too great away from this story.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Absolute Favourite Book in the "Step Into Reading Series", April 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Down on the Funny Farm (Step into Reading, Step 3) (Paperback)
This is the most endearing children's book I have read in years. Readers of all ages will find this book hilarious. Younger readers will learn about the sights and sounds of a farm, and the importance of marrying well.
