Captivating rhythm for my two-year-old
My 2-year-old son received this book for a gift, and we easily read it 20 times in a row before I finally got fatigued and had to have my husband take over. This morning the first thing he said to me upon waking was, "Down in Louisiana." Pictures need to be redone
The poems in this book are not bad, but the pictures are photos of tissue paper glued in animal shapes.

My 2-year-old son received this book for a gift, and we easily read it 20 times in a row before I finally got fatigued and had to have my husband take over. This morning the first thing he said to me upon waking was, "Down in Louisiana." The rhythm of the words is so captivating, and it's a great lesson in animals that are not the usual ones in kids' books. It's nice to get beyond lions and zebras and explore the world of Catahoulas and crawfish. A lovely read that I enjoy as much as he does.

What a great book! The kids love it, and they love the pictures too!
It is a great taste of Louisiana!! Check ALL her books out, along with her cd's. We bought this book, along with "Today is MOnday in Louisiana", and it's great too! We bought them after seeing her at the library performing. She so needs a DVD, cause I would buy it in a heartbeat! She has EXCELLENT way of entertaining the kids, as well as the adults!

What a great book! The illustrations are so well done! The story is cute and the hidden numbers are fun for the kids.
