Django on my mind,
By A Customer
This review is from: Down the Road (Audio CD)
I'm a fan of Pat Green, Robert Earl Keen, Roger Creager, and other Texas country artists, and I love Django Walker. Texas On My Mind, which Django wrote, has been covered by all his buddies, each one being a little different and special. His voice, besides having the necessary country twang, is a Texas plains rough, similar to that of Jerry Jeff. His guitar playing is beautiful. Django's got talent, and a fan of Texas country would be happy with this purchase.

I just got this CD. I saw Django Walker live at the Rice Festival in Winnie, Texas. I was actually there to see Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Walker and his band were on the stage right before CCR. I was skeptical; I figured here was a young man with a strange first name trading on his daddy's fame. Was I ever wrong! Django Walker will eclipse his dad's career. I never cared for Jerry Jeff Walker (yes, he's not from Texas). Django Walker is just precious! He stole the entire night at the Rice Festival. He is a great performer, with an easy style and instant rapport with the crowd. His songs are very good--witty and singable. His band is great. When Cross Canadian was playing, Django came out onstage to sing their song about the boys from Oklahoma rolling their joints all wrong, and when the crowd saw Django take the mike, they went wild. There are big things ahead for Django Walker.

Django Walker, the son of famed country music singer Jerry Jeff Walker, comes out with a jewel of a c.d. Though many people have never heard of Django Walker, trust me after you buy this c.d. you will be just another fan of Django Walker's music. This c.d. is not straight up country music, but a bit of alternative music and country, and can also be considered Jerry Jeff Country. People might not recognize the name Django Walker just now, but wait a couple of years, and everybody will know the name Django Walker. Do yourself a favor, and buy this Texan Jewel, a native son of TEXAS.

Django is the son of Country Music Legend Jerry Jeff Walker and it is obvious the music gene in the Walker family has been passed down. This album is full of great songs that all country music fans will enjoy, but will ringer even truer for those fans in Texas. If you like REK, JJW, Jack Ingram, and the likes then you need to get this CD.

Too good for radio!,
By
This review is from: Down the Road (Audio CD)
Django has a debut album that is too good for country music radio. Granted the cd is a few years old but I just realized this would be a great outlet to rave about it. It wasn't but a week or two ago that I hear this song "Some Beach" being played on the radio. Are you kidding me? It is a song like this that makes me believe I need to start writing country music. I could find a great cliche to write about. Maybe "Size Matters" would be my first huge hit. Django's album has pure, modern, decent country music on it. This is not a one hit album that was put together with snuff spit and bubble gum, is an absolute joy to listen to. You find certain things in life that are not mainstream and you realize how happy you are that they are not. Some things are way too good to be mainstream!! I wish Django the best in the future. JJW - you too out did many of your contemporaries without the same notoriety. You still da Man, but the son shall soon pass.

smash debut by the son of a texas legend,
By
This review is from: Down the Road (Audio CD)
Django Walkers debut album is a smash!!! Django fortunately gets his looks from his mother but his songwriting and musical abilities from his father the Scamp. For a first album, this one is extremely tight musically. The playing and picking is superb for a young group and the songs are all very strong lyrically and most have powerful messages. It's hard to believe this is a first effort. I especially enjoyed Django's "The Road You Choose" and "Texas On My Mind", which both appeared on Dad's cd's previously. I have been a big fan of Jerry Jeff's since the 70's and it's so great to see the tradition continue. I highly recommend "Down the Road" to anyone who likes that Texas sound. These kids are off to a great start. Interestingly, another young up and coming Texan, Pat Green, appears on this cd. And Pat Green is another sure-fire Texas winner.

A slight mix of Texan Country and Rock, Down the Road is a refreshing sound for a young artist and band. I recommend it for those people who enjoy lyrics with a direction.

Django's come a long way since his days in Liverpool. This transported Texan wowed us there and I am glad to hear he's doing it on home soil. Great heart-felt vocals. Musicanship is great as well. Keep it up!

I love this CD. Django and the boys rock. I highly reccoment trying to get to a live show, Django and the boys put on an awesome show and all the guys are really nice. After the show if you are still there hanging around Django will come and talk to you and thank you for coming to his show. He really is a cool guy and an excellent musician and he has some great songs on this album, like College Life and Texas on my Mind, which he wrote and it became a huge hit for Pat Green. If you enjoy Texas Country i highly reccomend this album!

His voice is mediocre and his songwriting is childish. The song Texas On My Mind that everyone is raving about has no discernable melody.Utter trash |
