Down the Road is an entertaining book. Steve Wilson has written a series of short stories or articles concerning various classic British motorcycles. Some of them are adventure stories about rides on these bikes. Others are historical in nature, based on interviews with individuals involved in the post-WWII British motorcycle industry. For those of us interested in these bikes and the collapse of that industry, it is a must read. The illustrations are good too.

If you are over fifty and love classic motorcycles, don't give this book a miss. The drawings by Nick Ward, although comical, are in a class of their own. The attention to detail comes only from exceptionally talented artists.The writer has researched this subject so thoroughly, one gets a first hand straight and direct insight into the just how these machines came to be. If you are lucky enough to own a classic, you will know it even better having read this book. Excellent articles on the Ace Cafe in London and the history of Plumstead's AMC (Matchless, AJS, Norton...) factory and it's demise.
