4.0 out of 5 stars Now is the Time for this Play!, June 3, 2009
This review is from: Down the Road. (Paperback)
This play was written almost twenty years ago. It poses questions about the conscience of the writers, Dan and Iris, a married couple who are writing with cooperation of a serial killer, Reach. There are times that the play does fall flat. But in a time where most of the new programs on television are geared towards crime, this play could get an audience to the theatre for a change of scenery. The setting is quite simple. Both sets for the prison and the motel scene can be done simply. The props are simple and easy to obtain. I would recommend any local, community, or regional theater consider putting this on stage because they ask relevant questions and does not have to be elaborate or over the top. Sometimes, the best plays are modest, inexpensive, and get a message about the selling of killer's story and the people who write them. With the abundance of true crime books out there and a genre, I think this play would attract an audience who normally are glued to their sets for Law & Order or CSI marathons.

4.0 out of 5 stars Psycho Killer Qu'est-ce que sais, March 29, 2008
This review is from: Down the Road. (Paperback)
Firstly, I would like to note that I plan on revising this review later on.

Now in regards to the play "Down the Road" it is neither a masterpiece or a work of atrocity, rather it is a play involving a unique character study. The character I speak of is Reach, a confined serial killer. The play revolves around two reporters/journalists, who happen to be married, as they make a case study on Reach through a series of interviews which lead to various problems and oddities in their relationship.

The reason I give this play four stars is merely because of the interesting moments with Reach, which possess a keen insight into an obvious psychopath. While the actions that drive the play are perhaps lacking, and the development of the two other main characters are a bit flat, the play provides an interesting read, and a challenge for the actors who choose to perform it.
