Bob Marley Easy Skanking

Biography

Bob Marley was a hero figure, in the classic mythological sense. His departure from this planet came at a point when his vision of One World, One Love -- inspired by his belief in Rastafari -- was beginning to be heard and felt. The last Bob Marley and the Wailers tour in 1980 attracted the largest audiences at that time for any musical act in Europe.

The dub tracks in the middle of this album (Crazy Baldheads really shouldn't be noted as dub) are what I have been craving all these years. To finally find some dubbed Marley to this extent is, well, it's unheard of, pardon the pun. All too often I find dubbed Marley music that is more suitable in a karaoke section (the music is there, the lyrics are gone). This is Bob doing dub. This is different. This is DUB! There is a noticeable difference in sound quality between the dub tracks (5-8) and the rest of the album. All tracks are very heavy on the base side, but the producers, in infinite wisdom, seemed to let tracks 5-8 survive. Ras Tafari. This is a CRUCIAL Marley album!!! For the mock Rastas, pick up this Marley album and then grab Tappa Zuckie In Dub; you're ready...

Tracks 1-4, and 10 are studio rehersal takes. The sound quality is somewhat poor; the bass is too high and the vocals are set too low. However, Bob's voice does sound good and these tracks are of interest because of the improvisation. Crazy Baldheads is not really a "dub" version of this song, but is a good alternate recording nonetheless. Tracks 5-8 are "dub" versions of Marley songs; 3 of them off of the album Kaya, and have good sound quality. As an avid Marley collector, I know these tracks are hard to come by and they are a prized addition to my collection. I highly recommend this album to the Bob Marley collector.

I recently purchased this album at a local record store and the sound quality of the live rehearsal tracks is terrible, and in my opinion are barely listenable. Your beter off purchasing the Brisbane Australia '79 or the Miami '80 Japanese releases, as the sound quality is much better of those performances.

The rehersals are Ok sounding, it's pretty cool though to have a Bob Marley rehersal. The Dubs have better sound quality than the rehersals on this Cd but there all good, I'd get it to add to the collection, because its not everday you'll find a Bob Marley or any group at that, Rehersal takes
