5.0 out of 5 stars STARriffic!
This was a great book! Like the last three, it's been in the ole' Thoroughbred tradition and theme. Christina is SOOOOO awesome now! I love how she's so bonded to Star. I'm glad she's gone to racing. I'm glad she worked out something with Sterling and Samantha. It's a good deal for all of them. Parker and Chris make such a good couple. I'm happy to announce my all time...

3.0 out of 5 stars NO NO NO!
I loved the storyline, it is one of the best in the series, but the reason I gave to three stars is because of Christina racing! I love three-day eventing (I even compete), and I was so glad that this series finally had a great character that loves it too! I was soooo glad that she wasn't living in Ashleigh's footsteps, but now she is! I hope that she does go back to...

I'm happy to announce my all time favorite person in the series (besides Wonder) Ashleigh is back to normal. She loves Star now, which is WONDERful. I couldn't beleive how she neglected him before. Didn't she think of how Wonder would want her to treat Star? I would liked to have seen Cindy be one of the jockeys to help Christina get her licence. They can include her a little bit. Even though Cindy wasn't one of my all time favorites, I think she should own a neighboring farm and stand Glory as her stud. I would also like to see Pride Champion at least mentioned as a stallions at Whitebrook. Why couldn't Fleet Goddess be mentioned as Sassy Jazz's dam? Why don't we see Sammy at Whitebrook much? Anyway, this is a very exciting book and goes Down to the Wire. An excellent book. Keep up the good work new authors. I'm craving 'Living Legend (#39)' and 'Ultimate Risk (#40)'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, the tb books are really better, RACING IS BACK!, December 10, 1999
Now, this book was so totally awesome. I got it as soon as it came out. If you want to know why it was so good- i will put it simply- RACING IS BACK! Christina a jockey, well i didn't think that would happen, and i didn't like the thought of- but oh well, it happened, and i liked it. It was so awesome, and Ashleigh is BACK TO NORMAL! Like she used to be, funny, nice, etc. Really an awesome book. This author is one of the best the TB books have seen in a long while. If anyone wants to know more about the book, or a spoiler, then e-mail me, i would be happy to send one. Also you could join a TB list at onelist.com, and find out more. 5.0 out of 5 stars Champions RUN in the Family, April 30, 2002
A Kid's Review
I thought this book was great! Though my favorite is definatly WONDER'S FIRST RACE, Ashleigh's Wonder turns into
a racing champion,my dream from the 1st TB book. I LOVE racing,
I'm gonna be a jockey when I turn 16,like my Aunt. This is THE best book series ever!!! It's VERY sad that Chris sells Sterling,
the mare she gave up EVERYTHING for.But Star was worth it. I mean
Wonder was a champion. I feel bad for Ashleigh,it's not her fault
Wonder died.
"As the roses were draped over Star's withers,he flicked his long tail, looking every inch the champion that he
was. Wonder's Star, the last son there would ever be, of Champion
Ashleigh's Wonder.

I hope that she does go back to eventing! She has been my favorite character since Ashleigh's Christmas Miacle, and now she's just throwing everything away! She may be a good jocky, but I hope she'll realize that she truely loves eventing and goes back to that! I was sooooo happy reading about eventing, but now it looks like Christina will be an Ashleigh clone! Why couldn't Melanie have been the big jocky in this book? Why didn't Christina stick with eventing? There's enough racing in this series! I like racing too, and I love reading about in in this series, but I REALLY love eventing, and it should stay in the series! Well, other than that, this books was great! And I love the Christina/Parker thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, Was she ever close!, December 19, 1999
By A Customer
What a decent book! This book is about Ashleigh's daughter Christina. And Wonder's son Star. This book has been long awaited by me ever since Mrs. Bentley quit writing thoroughbred. I love thoroughbred racing which is part of the reason why I like these books so much.. I am happy that Christina turned into such a nice person. Good job guys.

As an end note to those who hate the way Thoroghbred is going, why don't you just not read it anymore?

1.0 out of 5 stars Star for Sterling?????????? COME ON, March 17, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Down to the Wire (Thoroughbred) (School & Library Binding)
I just got this book and I have to say I HATE IT!!!!!!!!! First Christina sold Sterling and quit eventing. What the H E double hockey sticks! I literlly cried at the part when she gave up Serling. Her beautiful eventing mare who would do anything for stupid Cris. If you ask me having cris be a jockey is the worst thing they have ever done. I loved it when cris was jumping. It was fun to read about. Don't get me wrong I like racing but only with Ashleigh and Sam and pride and wonder. (Sometimes with Melenie.Absolutly hate cindy.) I don't mind having Melenie race but having cris race is stupidddd. If I could create these books (24 and on) I would have cristina do eventing, Mel do racing and have Sam and Ash be the main charachters in books a lot more. I bet you all agree with me right? On to Parker. Another complaint. Stick with Dylan. Dylan's a lot nicer anyway. What's with Parker suddenly being mentioned and becoming Cris's boyfriend? So he has mean parents. What's the deal? Parker neads to grow up and live with it he has a nice grandpa who bought him foxy which he does not desrve. Now Star over Sterling? That is really stupid. So what if cris has a bond with star? Ever since star was born (which I think shoudn't have happened) cris has neglected Sterling. Poor Sterling. All in all cris shouldn't have sold Sterling and become a jockey and start ramdomly dating parker. Either focuse on eventing with cris and dylan or go back to Ash and Sam being the main characters. Get rid fo cindy, max, mandy, ben. But keep Allie. She's cool Because she is at least nice to horses. Oh help save the thoroughberd series. I would but I don't know how to. Somebody help me by either posting a review on this book or email me at [...]. Please help me and i will help save the thoroughbred books! That's all for now! (Got to do some homework. But I would rather be reading these books or riding my lesson horse Spike. He is part tennise walker, part arabian, and part hackney pony. He is 16.2 hands and is a chestnut with a bold face, (all white face) and four white stockings that almost go up to his belly. He is a beautiful horse.) Now I really have to go!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book, but whats the problem with Star and Christina?, August 18, 2003
By A Customer
Okay so Chris was kinda stupid to sell Sterling for Star. But Star has a bond with Chris and vice-versa. Ashleigh rushed to get Chris to become a jockey and what's the common reaction? Of course she would sell Legacy everyone knows that. And winning a ton? Well that's what Ash did and you're not screaming at her for winning. It's kind of genetic isn't it? Anyway Star is Wonder's youngest son he didn't do anything wrong. I think you guys are too harsh on Star and Chris. Well about the book it is extremely good. When Chris does her tests for racing it has very good detail about how frustrated she gets and while she's racing Star, also very good detail. It really describes the bond between them. Besides Pride's Challenge and a few other books this is one of my favorite books. You should listen to what I said above, though.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Crazy Book!, November 4, 2001
By
Robin (Kingwood, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This is a really good book, but kind of depressing.

Star has to win one of his first two races to stay at Whitebrook and Christina is sure he can do it. But when the gates fly open for his first race he runs like a turtle. Why won't he run well? When Christina realizes that Star will only run for her she tries to get her jockeys liscense but fails dismally at her test. She finally goes behind her parents' backs to try again. But even with her liscense it seems that Brad Townsend will never let her be Star's jockey. Can Christina and her cousin find a way for her to ride Star in this race and keep him at Whitebrook?

I can't believe Christina sold Sterling when she was going to lose Star. She put so much work into Sterling and eventing and then, sells her, almost losing both of the horses she loves. But I'm glad the series is back to racing and I love Chris and Star!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really A very Good Book!, May 8, 2000
You people who didn't like this book- PLEASE remember- don'tbash the authors- bash the editors. They tell the authors what theyhave to write about and how everything goes. They don't think that kids like us are pay enough attention and we won't notice is a character suddenly dissapears or a horse's or persons hair color changes. They are the ones that mixed up Leap Of Faith's color in the earlier books- even though the authors complained they said that that is how it was going to be written. The editor desided that Chris was going to be a jockey, and to not mention Ashligh's baby from book #23, etc. Mary Newhall Anderson is one of the best authors this series has seen in a long time. She is one of the few authors that listen to waht the readers have to say and try to get some of our ideas in. The first 20 pages of this book got totally changed and screwed up by the editors after it was written. The authors don't know how their books are going to come out after they write them.

but i LOVED this book- racing is totally back and it seems that Joanna is the one writing again cause this was so good. I was happy about star and the fact that Ashleigh was back to normal. This is one of the BEST books in the TB series in a LONG time, and great job to Mary Anderson! P.S. If you are looking for other good TB authors-Chris Platt is REALLY great, she is another author that cares about what we like. Read her books in the Ashleigh Series You can e-mail me @ BrisCMyQHBaby@aol.com END
