This book is a kind of anarchistic, agnostic, sci-fi take on the libertarian political message. It is quite engaging and easy to read, as I gather the writer is a sci-writer. I only bought it because of the forward by Sean Gabb of the British Libertarian Alliance.
It is basically a series of interconnected articles on a variety of subjects-guns, drugs, war ect; written in a fairly obnoxious, typical yee haa yanky style. It is quite interesting and worth a read and in many ways the yanks are ahead of Europe and the UK in their take on libertarianism.
I am a Christian however and I think a mistake of the book, which Sean Gabb also makes; is to claim there can, or should be, a complete separation between a religious world view and politics. As if humans can be morally self governing as long as they're free from state interference. This goes a bit too far for my liking.
regardless of that, this is still a worthy read for those looking into the libertarian message.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

God blesse.

I recommend this book very highly for anyone who suspects that the governmental "status quo" is seriously messed up and off-track. I also recommend this book for anyone who is as yet unaware how messed up the political situation has become. Because it's time you stopped believing the liars in government and started actually thinking. This book will help. You'll never be the same- you'll be better.

This is a great collection of [mostly] political essays by one of the Grand Old Men of the modern Libertarian movement. To be sure, they may be slightly eccentric in a few respects, but that's what Libertarianism is all about, right?

The cretins who laughably think they run our government have been found out for who (or more particularly, WHAT) they are. In 'Down With Power,' Neil gives specific and workable directions and suggestions to restore the United States to something resembling what the Founding Fathers had in mind. Those faint of heart will cringe at his directness, but everybody has one pet peeve (usually many) about the overgrown, metastatic, parasitic cancer of authority currently infesting our nation. If you want change, find something Neil says that you can agree with, focus on it, and push. If enough people do this, politicians will begin to think in terms of 'bail or jail,' meaning bail as in resign, and the country will be a better place for it.

L Neil Smith has been writing freedom loving fiction and non-fiction since the mid-1980s. This collection of essays has food for thought covering most of the hot button issues of the day.

It's a must-read for anyone interested in; OWS, Ron Paul, sound money, or any of the many freedom movements.
