Editorial Reviews

CD reissue of this 1970 album from the legendary Canadian Folk/Rock singer/songwriter who has had numerous Billboard charting albums throughout his career, which began in the mid '60s. His most commercially successful period ran through the '70s, although he remains one of the most influential and admired songwriters of the Rock era. Wounded Bird. Sit Down Young Stranger was originally issued on Reprise Records in 1970 and reached #12 on the Billboard charts. The album was reissued that same year under the name If You Could Read My Mind to capitalize on the top ten hit of the same name. Our CD reissue features the original Sit Down Young Stranger album cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Long-Time favorite, February 9, 2011
This review is from: Sit Down Young Stranger (Audio CD)
This has long been one of my favorite albums. I know it as "If You Could Read My Mind." Its songs still reach out to me after all these years, and they have stayed in my mind long after other words and melodies have floated away. It was probably my introduction to Gordon Lightfoot and the reason I came to love and appreciate his music.

5.0 out of 5 stars You May Already Have This, October 25, 2010

This review is from: Sit Down Young Stranger (Audio CD)
Before "If You Could Read My Mind" was released as a single this album had been out for some time and the title track, "Sit Down Young Stranger" was getting all of the airplay. When "Mind" became a hit Warner/Reprise re-titled the album so if you have "If You Could Read My Mind" why buy it twice? If you don't have it, what are you waiting for? Sample the album if you like and check out a few of the reviews under the second title. It's one of Gordon's finest albums. Enough said.
