Compelling and thought-provoking, April 7, 2000
This review is from: The Downing of TWA Flight 800 - Abridged (Paperback)
I have listened to the audiobook of "The Downing of TWA Flight 800" and it is truly compelling. The sad truth is that goverments do cover-up incidents and spin-doctor anything they see fit in the interest of national security. Reading some of these reviews, it is good to see that government efforts are not wasted on the naive, but James Sanders has exposed something that every citizen of the US has a right to know about...the US Navy shot down Flight TWA 800 and now is covering up its mistake. Sanders has compiled some very damning evidence. The question is how much of the evidence can be substantiated? Could the incident have been prevented? Did the US Presidency willing go along with this cover-up? These thought-provoking questions and more, are presented here, with answers only barely scratching the surface. But afterwards, despite what the US government contends, you will come away with a seed of doubt, which is very consistent with a government that lies constantly to its citizens.

A Very Thought Provoking Book, March 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Downing of TWA Flight 800 - Abridged (Paperback)
The evidence uncovered in this book was very impressive. The author was thorough in most aspects and very imformative. Having a friend who died on TWA Flight 800, I have been following the case from the moment it was telecast and the only sensible thing I have read is from this book. It seems like another of our government's cover-ups that won't be known about for probably another 30 or 40 years.

Repleat with technical inconsistencies, March 4, 1998

This review is from: The Downing of TWA Flight 800 - Abridged (Paperback)
Mr. Sanders is unaware that Standard Missiles used in conjunction with AEGIS Weapon Systems must maintain communications with the AN/SPY-1 radar system or they will self destruct. Additionally, they must detect reflected illumination that can only be provided by the firing platform during terminal homing in order to intercept the target.
