This is clearly one of my top 10 SciFi books. I have read it with my children--totally appropriate for kids.

Polikarpus and King created an entirely new universe and concept that left me wanting a sequel.

This is the kind of book that would be a cult classic if more people knew about it! It came out quietly in 1985 when my adolescent daughter read it, loved it, and gave it to me to read. I was so impressed by the delightful visual images invoked by the storyline, that it has cropped up in conversation many times over the years, until recently I decided it was time to read this again.
And once again I am delighted with the imagery, plot, characters, and life lessons this very creatively crafted fantasy provide. Roll up the best of Alice in Wonderland, NeverEnding Story, Time and Again, Neverwhere (and no way as graphic or dark) and you have an idea of the treat in store for you.
This is a book begging to be made into a Pixar film - hmm, think I'll drop them a letter and suggest it!
