5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE VERSION!!!, March 20, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been looking for this book for a while, and I'm so excited I found it. It's a lot better than the new variations that are coming out that try and be more PC and have you eating more carbs than need be. This book is closer to the original in that you start at 0 carbs/week and gradually move up by 5g until you get to the spot where you're no longer to maintain your weight. The newer version have induction starting at 20g and then moving up. I'm so grateful I found this version online for a great price and I would definitely recommend this version (1972) over the newer ones if you're looking for results.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best diet book, January 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this old copy of the original Atkin's Diet after buying and reading several of the newer version. For me, and for my family, this old one is still the best. I have lived by it for years and just wanted a refresher course for my daughter. The diet worked in 1970 and it still works today. It's not so much a "diet" as it is a permanent change in eating habits. It's not difficult nor expensive, it's healthy, and it's effective!

Thank you Amazon. I never thought I would be able to find this 40 year old Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution Diet book. I had all the later ones but never found the first one. I have better luck following the older ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I would have read the book 30 years ago..., December 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A revolutionist ahead of his time- This book should be among the classics. Over forty years ago Dr. Atkins brought to the world's attention the subject of carbohydrate poisoning. He tells you how to lose weight fast, eating rich, high-calorie foods, provides case histories, meal plans, menus, and recipes. Why counting calories is a plan to failure aka "calorie hoax". The Atkins plan tells you how to burn fat and how you know when you are. The solution to the obesity/type 2 diabetes pandemic has been right under our noses for a long time. In writing this book he says he's trying to unbrainwash us. The newer book versions have induction phase starting at 20g per day and then moving up. Using this version you start at 0 carbs/week and gradually move up by 5g until you get to the spot where you're no longer maintaining your CCL Critical Carb Load. This diet worked in the 1970's and it still works today. It's curious to notice how today's doctors are still pushing the same low fat /high carb diets. Some things still remain the same and commercial interests are still victimizing the hungry dieting public to stay the futile course. It's not so much a "diet" as it is a permanent change in eating habits. It's not difficult or expensive, it's healthy, and it's effective! Also, if you have problems with dangerous high triglycerides levels and low HDL this way of eating will bring those numbers right in line without medication.
I could have saved myself some grief if I would have read the book 30 years ago. I'm happy to say it really works for me ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution: The High Calorie Way to Stay Thin Forever (1972 Edition), July 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This first edition is way different than the newer edition and I wanted to
see what I was missing so I could maybe 'tweak' my own Atkin's eating plan.
