Dr. Genie "Genius" Watson was a child prodigy; her parents unsure what to do with her. Dr. Nick "Beef" Wellington was the son of a cold abusive senator and estranged mother; his childhood was less than ideal. So Genie and Nick do not start out on the best of terms when they find out they have to share a lab where they work.
I enjoyed that there was an ongoing story line when the book started. Someone is after Genie and means to kill her. Unfortunately, Genie doesn't remember what happened when she was attacked in the lab and Nick feels responsible because he was on their floor working but wasn't there to protect her. How Nick and Genie turn their relationship around, find out who is trying to kill her and dealing with both of their pasts and insecurities are the foundation of the book. At the same time you'll learn a little something about genetics. I only wish that they could have communicated better. Still, it was a pretty good book.

Jessica Andersen's Intrigue debut is a winner, in my book! I could NOT put this novel down. Filled with great characters and a believable plot/storyline, Ms. Anderson is a fresh new voice in Intrigue's line-up of authors. I look forward to reading much more from this skilled and talented author!

Fast-paced, never a dull moment and hot, hot, hot! That's what DR. BODYGUARD is from the moment you open the cover and know the heroine is in big trouble, all the way through to the corny, but cute, fairy-tale ending. Andersen's fresh voice really conveyed the danger to her characters and the strife they had to go through to be together. Good pay-off in the end and with the teaser for Andersen's next book on the last page, I'm hoping to see more of these characters and setting. Good read.

Wonderful characters! Great plot! I couldn't figure out "whodunit" til the very end. And the sexual tension is hot, hot, hot! Can't wait to read more from this author.

Wonderful Debut,

What a wonderful book this is! I completely enjoyed every page. I thought the romance and mystery were perfectly balanced and the red herrings were so well-deployed that I couldn't be sure I'd solved the puzzle until the end. Not only that, but all the characters are vividly drawn, so that even those characters who only appear in recollection and memory leap off the page. With one book, Jessica Andersen has jumped onto my autobuy list. Highly recommended. |
