5.0 out of 5 stars Love this stuff! Been using it for years.
This is a concentrated liquid soap. I dilute it (1:3 soap- water ratio)and mainly use it for a body wash. It rinses off clean, no residue. Highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars I feel out of place giving this a 3/5
I like to buy my wife nice soaps because she likes to take baths a lot. I bought this one because it had all 5 star reviews. She did not like this one much, and it didn't really impress me.
This is by no means a great soap for a bubble bath. It does not bubble much. The lavender smells strange, and this soap turns the water blue, which was interesting...

5.0 out of 5 stars lasts for years and years, August 12, 2006
Most bar soaps shrinkage is from being wet and dripping off. A gallon of this natural nontoxic soap has lasted me for years. I have Dial foaming soap pump dispensers that were cheaper than buying an empty dispenser. After using up the triclosan product, I filled the dispensers with 1/4 soap and 3/4 warm water. This product has been wonderful for us. It's our hand soap and our bathing soap. Shop around for the lowest price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great soap, tons of uses around the house, June 3, 2011
This review is from: Dr. Bronner - Castile Soap Lavender, 1 Gallon liquid (Misc.)
Amazon is the cheapest places to buy this stuff (love the free shipping!). I've tried the lavender and the peppermint scents and really do love them both. The Lavender is a soft and gentle smell. Peppermint is more strong but still nice.

I've replaced so many household cleansers it is unreal. I use this stuff for laundry (about 1/8 cup undiluted), kitchen/bathroom spray (diluted with about 5-10% soap and 90-95% water), dog wash (undiluted), floor cleaner (diluted), carpet cleaner (diluted), and dish soap (NOT in the dishwasher, hand wash only!). I mainly bought this to help with some cat pee situations I was having (something terribly hard to clean out of things). My cat pees on the dog's bed at least once a week. Regular detergent just wasn't getting the smell out. 1/8 a cup of this soap and a heavy wash cycle cleans it right out! It is worth it just for that alone, but I am loving all the other uses for this.

I have not tried this as a bodywash or for any other personal care yet. I'm not sure I'm ready to cross that line even though many people use it for those purposes.

The price might seem high, but it really isn't. Most uses of this product require heavy dilution. My first attempt of mixing a kitchen spray cleaner was a disaster (I did about 30% soap and the rest water). Lets just say my counters were a soap bubble filled mess, it needed to be much more diluted! I also like only having to store 1 undiluted bottle and 1 spray bottle instead of a dozen bottles of different cleaner.

I love that its organic and biodegradable. I think it would be useful to anyone who has a septic tank or on a shared water source like a lake. That way you can clean your boat or wash your dog in the lake without harming neighbors who may pull water from it (or other animals for that matter!).

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this soap, June 4, 2010

I was tired of buying little containers of hand soap to have at all our sinks. I have been trying to reduce our packaging usage in order to make a little smaller footprint on the earth and this was a great place to start. I remembered Bronner's soap from the 70's but didn't know they had this scent so I tried it. I refill the hand soap containers and the soap is wonderful!

Dr. Bronner's soap has been my favorite for 25 years. The health food stores sell it for a lot, the manufacturere sells it for about $50 a gallon, and The Vitamin Shoppe sells it for about $30. Best deal going!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the best, July 11, 2011

Being one of those "blessed" with sensitive skin, and after suffering thru the effects of regular soaps and body washes (itchiness, rashes, etc) I finally turned to castile soap in the hope it would work for me--it did! I love this stuff. It's not as thick as regular liquid body wash (which is what I primarily use this for), but to me, the gentleness and fragrance more than make up for that. I've used it as a hand soap too, with great results. I usually dilute it (1 part soap, 3 parts water) before applying in the shower, and the gallon size has lasted me almost a whole year (still have about 1/4 a gallon left!). Well worth it, in my opinion.

I have previous brought the 32 oz bottle of this soap and loved it. Because it is used by the family, my 32 oz bottle soon was empty. Gallon bottle is a better deal for a family use. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use this stuff for everything!, June 1, 2011

I am a huge fan of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soap! I've used it for years. More recently, it's replaced both my face and body washes completely and it's really been good for my sensitive skin. I have a recipe for homemade shampoo that calls for castile soap so it may be replacing that soon too! It's not thick like body and hand gels (actually, it will probably seem watery in comparison), but it's very concentrated so all you need are a few drops to wash your entire body. A little tiny travel bottle has lasted me two or three months with daily use. It foams up beautifully into a big bubbly lather either on its own or with a bath poof, which is one of the things I like so much about it. I've found that you pretty much have to use a bath poof with regular body wash because you won't get that nice lather without it...and I am really all about that bubbly lather! It's all natural and biodegradable which, coupled with the fact that such a little bit goes such a long way, also makes it an excellent all-purpose soap to bring along on camping or backpacking trips where you're looking to lighten your load. One tiny bottle could replace your bath soap, dish soap, shampoo and laundry soap and would probably be less harmful to any lake or stream it might wash into as well. Personally, I am so in love with lavender that its usually all I buy, but I've tried almond and peppermint as well. Almond is also lovely and probably best suited to those used to more heavily scented commercial body washes as it smells very sweet. Peppermint is really refreshing, but I don't like using it as a face wash because it tends to sting the sensitive skin around my eyes...like getting a face full of vick's vapor rub or something. I've always imagined tea tree and eucalyptus as being good for acne or being a good hand washing soap because tea tree oil is antiseptic, but I've never used it. I pretty much stick with lavender because I just love the smell. I find this soap slowly replacing ALL the soap in my life which is why i decided to go ahead and buy the gallon size this time. I would highly recommend giving this soap a try, but buy the travel size bottle first to see if you like it.

We use Dr. Bonner Castile Soap with Lavender fragrance in our bathrooms. We fill it into preaty dispencers. The bottle lasts a long time. Since there are no chemical ingredience, it does not dry the skin.

This is by no means a great soap for a bubble bath. It does not bubble much. The lavender smells strange, and this soap turns the water blue, which was interesting.

The good news is she didn't complain about any soap scum feeling and actually the tub seemed cleaner after having used it.

After doing some research, Castile soap is olive-oil based. That's pretty cool, and probably explains the slightly off lavender smell.

Is this only for cleaning? I don't get it.

I thought the small print on the bottle was hilarious though, I can't tell if they were joking or not.
