I eat about 3 tablespoons of VCO per day.

I have used Garden of Life and Spectrum Brands, both of which were the UNREFINED versions.
Those brands were delicious and Bronners Fresh Pressed Virgin Whole Kernel is no exception.

I prefer unrefined, flavorful coconut oil and this is exactly what I got. I eat it straight from the bottle and it does not make me gag at all. I love it!

Not only is it delicious with a taste of toasted coconut, it really smoothes the skin out.

I think that I will start cleansing my face with this rather than soap, I have read that people do this. I will try that and write an update.

BTW, Bronners sells two version of their VCO, this Whole Kernel Unrefined and the Dr Bronner's Fresh-pressed Virgin Coconut Oil White Kernel Unrefined 14 Fl Oz.

According to Bruce Fife, an expert on Coconut and Coconut oil,

The difference between the "white kernel" and "Whole kernel" is that the whole kernel includes the brown membrane that separates the kernel from the shell. According to Fife, this membrane has a higher content of unsaturated fatty acids.

According to the manufacturer's website, "Whole kernel oil, which is made from the kernel with its "parings" is more nutritious and has a slightly nuttier flavor whereas white kernel oil offers a choice to consumers who are familiar with this grade. Both grades are versatile and healthy along with being organic and fair trade."

UPDATE: I missed this the first time. Bronners' VCO is made from dried coconut as is Spectrum.

All other brands can claim whatever they want but I always look for Fair Trade products, something very rare which costs the producer more money to produce the same jar or bag of whatever anywhere outside US. Look around and you will hardly ever find any Fair Trade products. Furthermore, it is a certified KOSHER product where "K" certification is another process which assures a high quality product, other brands are not. This is dark meaning the whole coconut.

DR. BRONNER
Lauric+Caprylic+Capric Acids=49%
Omega 6 Linoleic Acid=unknown
Omega 9 Oleic Acid=unknown
Temprature=130
Press=cold pressed when contacted no fresh pressed
Refined or Unrefined=unrefined

Let's look at some facts... Dr. Bronner is one of the only four produced EVCOs that does not claim Extra Virgin anywhere on their labelling at all since there is no such thing as Extra Virgin at all. This is whole kernel not white. Fair Trade stamp product unlike others claiming Fair Trade without any stamp. Lower MCT/MCFA, at least honest probably due to heat. It is a 14oz jar not 16oz.

REGULATIONS: It's important to note that, while Europe has rigorous standards in place for the terminology of cold pressing (fully unrefined oil extracted at temperatures below 122 degrees F), the phrase 'cold pressed' has been used erroneously in the U.S. for a number of years, often employed as a marketing technique for oils which have been expeller pressed or even refined (which exposes the oil to temperatures of up to 470 degrees F).

COOKING: Since coconut oil is heat stable, it can be baked into desserts, and substituted for EVOO or vegetable oil. I will never give up cooking with EVOO, since to me EVOO is the best oil. I cook with EVOO not EVCO but for my popcorns, I go with EVCO.

If you haven't fallen in love with coconut oil yet, you are behind the times my friend. Honestly, this stuff is as close to magic pixie dust as we will ever get. It's an all over body moisturizer, fantastic hair conditioning treatment, great to cook with, and it has incredible health benefits if you eat it raw. Put some on your toast, in your smoothie, to pop stove popcorn, etc. It's a great makeup remover too. I have THE most sensitive skin of anyone I've ever met- I can't use most sunscreens, soaps, perfumes, etc. and this stuff is great. Put it on cuts and bruises- it makes an antibacterial seal over the cut and fades dark splotches. You can put this stuff on your newborn. THIS is the definition of 100% natural. Plus, this particular brand is organic and you have a cute jar when you're done. Seriously, magic in a jar.

I purchased this product because I thought it would be brand new. Apparently it had a 2 year shelf life. Unfortunately they sent me an old bottle that expires in 2 months. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning it and hunt for a new seller. This seller didn't have the courtesy to send out another.

I bought this yesterday at a local organic grocery store and I must say that I am very impressed with it. I love coconut products and this is a great tasting coconut oil. I am aware of and have read many articles online about the health benefits of virgin coconut oil. I ate a little bit straight from the jar and it tasted amazing. I will be using this brand from now on. I also like the fact that it's organic and fair trade. Coconut oil is so amazing and works well for the hair too. Great product.
