A must for any baby with colic or gas pains!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle Starter Kit (Baby Product)
This bottle is a lifesaver. My baby began suffering from gas pains around 3 weeks at about the time I started supplementing her with a bottle of breast milk twice a day to help her gain weight. I was using Avent bottles thinking they are the best. After several weeks of agony for my baby and me trying everything from gas relief drops to changing my diet to try and relieve the pain, I bought these bottles. Since my baby was used to the Avent bottle, I purchased the wide Dr. Brown bottle since the nipples are almost identical. She switched very easily. We noticed an IMMEDIATE difference. After her first bottle she was so happy and passed gas without any pain. She also slept soundly for the first time ever for 5 hours. Before I could not get her to sleep more than two hours straight without stomach pains that would wake her. In addition, she started eating more because her stomach wasn't filled with all the extra air that she swallowed with the Avent bottle. This bottle is truly a lifesaver! I'll never use another kind of bottle again. As for the additional time it takes to clean the bottle, believe me, it's worth it!

Happier baby!,

My baby has reflux and extra gas just makes him completely miserable. We got these bottles when he was 3-weeks old and they really do make a difference! I'm a pediatrician, so I was a skeptic when I read that the bottle claimed to reduce gas/colic. But I think I'm convinced! At the very least, it makes it easier for him to eat since there is no negative pressure created from suction... the food just flows! Thus, the baby swallows less air from the having work so hard to get food. If your baby has reflux or is very gassy, this bottle is definitely worth a try!

Well worth the money!,

I bought one 4 ounce bottle to try it out. These bottles really live up to their promise. You get absolutely NO bubbles, no spit up, and much less gas! I now have four 8 ounce bottles and will be recommending this bottles system to everyone I see with a baby.

Best Bottles Around - Forget the Rest!,

This review is from: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle Starter Kit (Baby Product)
When my son was born, we tried sampling bottles from several different manufacturers, including Evenflo, Triflow, Avent, etc. Dr Brown's bottles really are the best in preventing gas, bottle leakage, and flow problems. We ended up throwing all other bottles away. I had read other reviews about the small parts being difficult to wash, but I don't really have a problem with that. We don't have a dishwasher and I end up hand washing everything. Each set of bottles comes with a tiny brush for getting into the small spaces for the inner parts to the bottles; and a regular bottle brush works fine with the bottles themselves. I can wash and fill 9 bottles in under 20 minutes (perfect timing when putting my son down for a nap). As to some reviewers complaints about leakage, it's true that if the inner tube gets full sometimes the milk can leak out the top - but this has only happened rarely and I've found that if I unscrew the cap and pull out the inner tube then put the tube back in (basically reassembling the bottle), the problem is resolved. The adjustment takes less than a minute and like I said, I've only had it happen once or twice. Otherwise the bottles, nipples and all the parts are really durable - especially the nipples. When we first bought the bottles, we bought all these replacement nipples in level 1 and ended up returning them because we never needed them. So, my only suggestions are
1. hold off on buying extra nipples to see if you really need them (or at least don't open the package until you need to) and 2. to bypass getting 4 oz bottles and go right for the 8 oz bottles. We started off with the 4 oz bottles and now, at 3 months old, our son is already up to 6 oz at a feeding. So, we had to pack away the 4oz bottles and go out and buy a bunch of the larger size.

Dr. Brown's made a big difference,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle Starter Kit (Baby Product)
I purchased these bottles at the reccomendation of a friend's friend. They sat on my kitchen counter for about 2 weeks because they looked a little too complicated (they aren't at all) After having no success w/Avent, the Playtex drop-ins and some various others I decided to try Dr. Brown's -- I'm sorry I didn't try them sooner - they made a BIG difference w/my son's gas episodes. They definitely decreased - he does still get a little gas now (he's 7 weeks) and then - but as soon as I started using Dr. Browns it made a big difference. I have also bumped into mothers using Dr. Brown's and they say the same thing - it's the only thing that helped the gas situation. I can't wait to use the y-cut nipples for when it's cereal time!

My husband and I after reading all the previous reviews were a little hesitant in purchasing this system. However, we did and we are VERY SATISFIED. Our 4 month old is colic and has a lactose intollerance. We tried the Playtex disposable nursers first. Second, the Playtex ventaire and Third, Evenflo Elite We even switched his formula to ALIMENTUM ($$$) and all to no avail our son still had a lot of crying spells and gas as well as he spit up toooooo much. We also used the mylicon drops too costly!!! After two days of using Dr. Brown's bottle system. My husband is thrilled with the product and I must say that I am pleased as well. We don't see any bubbles in the milk. The bottles are high maintenance but are worth our son not being gassy and unable to console. He doesn't spit up as much. I used to go through about 8 diapers a day I am now down to 2 and that's only after two days of switching the bottles. We have had absolutely no problems with leakage while traveling or while feeding him. We just followed ALL the instructions INCLUDED with the bottles. The Best part of all is our son has not cried uncontrollably since. So I ask you what is the cost you are willing to pay for PEACE?

Best bottles around,

These are wonderful. They are sturdy and practically spill proof. My daughter is breast fed and these bottles are wonderful for her. We have used other bottles, and there are a few that she will use, but it takes a little to get her to feed. She just starts right away with these, plus she doesn't seem to get any air when eating. She can feed longer without having to be burped. Just like breastfeeding. Also, they are less messy. When she uses other bottles I have to put a bib on her to catch all the milk that leaks out all over her face. The nipples on these bottles are small and fit great in her mouth. She doesn't leak milk out with these. She isn't collacky or have reflux so I can't comment on that, but boy are they great for breastfed babies. I love being able to give her breast milk in public and not have to stop and sit down and be descreet while lifting my shirt......(you know) I can just feed her right in her seat while pushing the cart since is works great while upright.

Best Bottles on the Market,
By Kelly Ryan (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle Starter Kit (Baby Product)
I tried a dozen other brands before I found the Dr. Brown Bottles. These were the only bottles that truly reduced air intake -- I had to force a burp. When my son was a month he became colicky; within three days of using these bottles he was 100% cured and I have yet to have any other problems. I have recommended these bottles to all my friends and they all agree with me. With all that being said, I gave these bottles 4 stars only because they occasionally leak, but a few wet bibs are worth a happy baby.

Dr. Brown's can't be beat,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottle Starter Kit (Baby Product)
I nursed our son for the first 3.5 mos so I was concerned about switching to bottle. Our son did not skip a beat. No nipple confusion, no fussiness, no trouble. We never experienced colic from him at all. He was just a happy baby. People complain about the cleaning but it's nothing compared to the peace & happiness. The starter kit worked great b/c he needed the 4 oz bottle for the 1st month or 2 and then the larger bottles as he progressed to 8 oz per feeding. To properly mix the formula using this bottle, remove the tube part and swirl the bottle. Shaking to mix will only cause leakage b/c of the bottle's design of allowing air in the bottle to prevent a vacuum. Just attach the tube back to the green part prior to feeding your baby and it will be fine. Buy the level 2 nipples once your baby is ready. We don't have plans of ever "trying out" another brand. This is truly the best!

Wonderful invention,

These are the best purchase I have made for my daughter. They are wonderful bottles that cured my daughter's gas and spit up problems! In response to other reviews, you need to not fill it up pass the DO NOT FILL line in order for them not to leak--although I have never had a problem with any leakage. These bottles are absolutely THE BEST. My daughter is now one and is still using Dr. Brown's. I highly recommend this product! |
