Product Description

The Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Standard Baby Bottles offer a wonderful feeding experience with innovative vent technology. Dr Brown's bottles use a patented 2-piece internal vent system for your baby's comfort. This system creates positive-pressure flow for vacuum-free feeding that is similar to breastfeeding. The breast milk or formula flows freely without nipple collapse. As the baby feeds, air is channeled from the nipple collar through the vent system to the back of the bottle. Air never mixes with the breast milk or formula so oxidation is prevented, thereby maintaining essential vitamins such as C, A and E. The vent system eliminates air bubbles in the formula or milk, which helps to reduce feeding problems like colic, spit-up, burping and gas. Dr. Brown's bottles are completely BPA, PVC, lead and phthalate free for your baby's safety. The Newborn Feeding Set comes with 3 8oz/240ml Standard bottles, 2 4oz/120ml Standard bottle, 2 extra Level-Two silicone nipples, 2 Storage/Travel caps and 3 "cleaning" brushes are small nipple brushes and they are INSIDE the bottles. .

We just started pumping and introducing a bottle in preparation for my return to work. Our 4 1/2 week old daughter took this bottle with zero hesitation and is now going back and forth between breastfeeding and bottle beautifully. All the parts sounded intimidating but are actually very easy to use and clean. Neither my husband or I had ever bottle fed a baby before, and we figured it out without difficulty.

For any other first-time, clueless parents out there: this set comes with a size 1 (newborn)nipple attached to each bottle (5 total) and 2 size 2 nipples that are extras. I didn't see anywhere in the description that said the size 1's were included (just listed the size 2 nipples)and having never done this before we didn't realize the Size 1's came as part of the bottle, so I ordered the newborn size separately. Oops, but we'll use them.

I have been looking for a bottle that my daughter will not reject. My daughter was using The First Years Breastflow BPA Free Starter Set, but suddenly rejected the bottle. We noticed that she became very gassy with those bottles, so tried the Dr. Brown's bottles, which were recommended by my home daycare provider. I believe that the venting system is important, as the Breastflow nipple would collapse completely while she was drinking, making it harder to draw milk. However, the nipple on the Dr Brown's bottle was so long and narrow my daughter would gag regularly as the nipple hit the back of her throat.

The bottle also leaked from the sides/vent after returning to an upright position even though I filled the bottle below the max fill line.

A little advice: if you are trying to find the perfect bottle for your baby, keep in mind that all babies are different. My son would take ANY bottle without a problem, and now my daughter is on her 4th bottle, and I still haven't found the perfect one. Both of my children were breastfeeding exclusively at the time. I suggest buying single bottles at a store and trying it before ordering large starter kits.

I recently purchased the BreastFlow by First Years for my 3 wk son. He seemed to drink pretty well from them, but the flow was too fast and the nipples seem to collapse. It was kind of a pain to squeeze the nipple to get the milk back into the bottle.
My friends told me about the Dr. Brown bottles and showed me the nipple flow. I bought some based on my friends recommendation and have fell in love with the bottles. My son drinks slower, has less gas, and does not spit up as much. I would highly recommend these bottles to anyone who breastfeeds and pumps, or breast and formula feed. My son did not realize he was full for 10-15 minutes after using the BreastFlow bottles, with the Dr. Brown's (because of the slower flow nipples that simulate the actual breast flow speed) my son realizes he is full soon after his feeding.
Definately worth the money, wish I would have known about the differences in the compared products nipple flow and I wouldn't have wasted my money on the BreastFlow bottles.
The only downside to the Dr. Brown bottles is that it is more time consuming to wash the bottles because of the extra pieces, but that is minor compared to the satisfaction my son receives from each feeding due to the nipple flow and decreased air intake.

I love these feeding bottles. I used different types of feeding bottles (Dr.Brown's, AVENT, Playtax) and Dr.Brown's is the winner. The ad said "Reduces colic, spit up, burping and gas". I have to say ' it is true'.

Absolutely love the bottles. Have about 9 of these - six 8oz and three 4oz. Will buy more 8o ones soon. Baby loves them - no gagging, no leaks, easy to assemble. Much better nipples when compared with the Phillips Avent Natural line. I didn't like the Dr. Brown's wide-neck ones as much - thought they were too wide. Love the Dr. Brown's bottle warmer too!

I did a ton of research on bottles (or so I thought) before we decided on Tommee Tippee bottles. We used them up until baby was 3 weeks. Using them wasn't so bad at first, but only because we didn't know better. After baby started spitting up, too young and too much, I bought one Dr Brown bottle. In 2-minutes we were in love with these bottles (I bought tons within 3-minutes on amazon).

Bad Tommee Tippee. Good Dr. Brown:
* It was impossible to take off the cap with one hand on Tommee Tippee. I now know, one-handed up-capping is really critical during feeding time.
* Baby could drink 2-ounces without having to be burped. She did not drip, leak or drool milk either.
* Her burps became baby-like (instead of the trucker-guy-like tenfold...we just thought babies burped like that!)
* She has less blistering on her lips from sucking on the smaller Dr. Brown nipples.

Bad Dr. Brown. Okay Tommee Tippee
* Dr. Brown bottles are ugly (I'm an aesthetic junkie but now have let that go)
* Takes longer to clean (but worth it for 100% happier and easier baby feedings)

OK, here's the deal. These bottles are awful. Ignore all the "best baby bottle of the year" awards, ignore all the glowing 5 star reviews.... Trust me on this one, DO NOT BUY THESE THINGS.

I'm a father, my wife purchased these bottles a few months ago for our newborn. This is our 3rd child, so I've had some experience with feeding babies. Unlike most normal bottles that have 3 pieces (nipple, nipple-fastener and bottle) these things have 5 pieces. (Nipple, nipple fastener, blue air tube, rubber spacer and bottle) Right away you've got 2 more pieces of plastic to wash, which is a big strike against these things from the start. Additionally, unlike normal bottle components, the blue air tube and the rubber spacer are IMPOSSIBLE to wash. The blue air tube has a tiny little tube so small that nothing outside of a pipe cleaner is suitable to wipe it out. The rubber spacer is even worse... Several small gaps are extremely difficult to clean, and 2 impossibly small vent tubes connected at 90 degree angles are even worse. Over time, the tiny gaps that can't be reached by any normal type of bottle washing device collect dried, fetid formula or breast milk. Bits of this crap will inevitably break off into the bottle contaminating it with copious amounts of grossness. I know, I know. They provide a little tiny pipe-cleaning thingy along with the bottles to help you clean them. Do you REALLY want to buy bottle that requires a special extra cleaning accessory? If you are unfortunate enough to end up with these bottles, be warned... the only possible way to get all this junk clean is in the dishwasher.

But wait, you think! I have a dishwasher! I'll exclusively use that to wash the bottles! Think again my good friend. Come with me for a moment.
