3.0 out of 5 stars for the price they shouldn't leak
My first daughter didn't have gas issues, so we just used the playtex bottle with the liners. they worked great for her. but my second daughter is super gassy, so i got these bottles to see if it would help. shes had breast milk and formula in them to see if either would help. i'm not convinced that these bottles cut down on colic or gas, because shes still super...

Dr. Brown's bottles came very highly recommended by several of my friends. Despite their recommendations, I decided to try another brand of bottles. We very quickly switched to Dr. Brown's for a few reasons. My daughter did not like the other bottles but did great with accepting Dr. Brown's. She had to take bottles directly out of the hospital due to weight loss but transitioned well back to the breast. The part that is especially great about the bottles is that they have the same threading to work with Ameda and Medela breast pumps. I have personally used them with my Ameda Purely Yours Ultra pump.

If you use them with the Ameda pump, the one draw back is that the bottle is narrower than Ameda. As a result, when empty the flange is heavy enough to make them tip over and they do not fit snugly into the bottle holders on the top of the pump. Otherwise they work great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than other bottles we've tried, February 1, 2010
By
ockeghem (Vancouver, BC Canada) - See all my reviews
As with most things touted as a miracle cure for your baby, the hype is a bit overblown. This bottle does help but doesn't end reflux altogether.

My three-month-old daughter has had reflux issues since she was born. She's almost exclusively breastfed, except for one or two bottles a day of expressed milk. I thought I'd give the Dr. Brown's bottles a go, after feeding her from Born Free and Medela bottles with no discernible difference in her spitting up. With the Dr. Brown's bottles, we did find that she spits up slightly less. Does she still spit up? Sure -- just not quite as much.

I wash these bottles in the dishwasher (top rack), and haven't had a problem with them leaking. Yes, there are a number of pieces that have to be cleaned for each bottle, but there are no more pieces than the Born Free bottles, and in the dishwasher it's not a big deal. And even the times I've washed them by hand, having to wash a few pieces and use the enclosed brush hasn't been onerous. If she were exclusively bottle-fed and I didn't have a dishwasher, I can see where these bottles might seem like a pain, but otherwise they aren't that time-consuming.

A lot of the comments on the Dr. Brown's bottles seem to come down to a question of parenting style. If you're the type of parent who values convenience above all things because you're dealing with a needy baby, especially if you don't have a dishwasher, you may well dislike the Dr. Brown's bottles (my friends in this camp rave about the Playtex dropins). If you're instead the type of parent who doesn't mind an extra minute or less loading the dishwasher and an extra 5 seconds in assembling a bottle, if it means your child with reflux will spit up a bit less, I recommend trying one of the Dr. Brown's bottles to see if it helps your baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only bottle that works for my breastfeed baby, July 7, 2010
This review is from: Dr. Brown's BPA Free Polypropylene Natural Flow Standard Neck Bottle, 4 oz - 3-Pack (Baby Product)
Though more expensive than other brands this is worth every penny. My daughter will not use any other bottle. Do NOT listen to the complants of leaks as long as you use all the parts together, this works well and has never leaks. It has a positive pressure that keeps bubbles out of babys belly and baby and mom happy. I wish I would have bought these before all the other ones.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Bottles!, February 16, 2012

I started using these bottles because they came so highly recommended from so many other moms. After 3 months, I have to agree with them. We really like these bottles for our daughter. They do help to prevent gas and spit up.

Only drawback is they are difficult and time-consuming to clean. We just bought the steam sterlizer - hoping that makes our life a little easier!

1.0 out of 5 stars Noot Good, February 15, 2012
This review is from: Dr. Brown's BPA Free Polypropylene Natural Flow Standard Neck Bottle, 4 oz - 3-Pack (Baby Product)
These bottles are supposed to be good for the price, but actually they are not. First, too many pieces and takes more time to clean. Second, the paint outside the bottle peels off when cleaning and boiling which the peeled paint pieces stick all around inside, outside and the nipples. It was hard to see to remove completely. I will never buy again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, January 16, 2012

I am really happy that we gave these bottles a try. My daughter has a milk allergy we know now, but before switching to hypoallergenic formula, she had TERRIBLE trapped gas. These bottles helped immediately. Once we started her on hypoallergenic formula we started using Playtex bottles again too and we could tell the difference in bottles. So we will ONLY use others in a pinch. I really recommend these bottles for anyone who has a baby that cries a lot! It took me a while to figure out that it was gas. I really wish we would've had these from the first day we started her on a bottle! As for cleaning, it's really not that bad. We tried the Enfamil AR and even with that thick formula, it didn't clog up anything. They give you a pretty good brush to clean the small parts and after about a week you get used to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best for my preemie!, January 8, 2012
We had the hardest time getting our preemie to eat. Because he was so early and was on the vent for so long, he had a hard time learning to swallow and so choked all of the time. This was causing him to hate to eat. He also didn't have a very strong suck and that coupled with the tiny hole in the only slow flow nipple he would use meant he was getting almost nothing and wearing himself out in the process. I happened across these and decided to give them a try and he LOVES them. They have been a total life saver and we don't use anything else.
