2.0 out of 5 stars The cups don't work well at all
After doing extensive research we purchased 4 of training cups for our infant. They were very highly rated on multiple web sites. He was having difficulty drinking and becoming frustrated. I tried the cup myself and got mostly air and very little liquid. I respositioned the insert multiple times with no improvement. Thinking it was that particular cup we opened the others...

I have tried almost every brand of sippy cup for my daughter and NONE of them have worked out. My daughter had to suck too hard ( and she has an incredibly strong suck) for any liquid to come out. The end result being that she would just gnaw on the spout and throw the cup around. I began to think I would never get her to drink from a cup and had tried using regular cups that ended up with lots of choking and huge messes. I bought this cup, not really expecting anything. My daughter picked it up immediately and drank like a champ. She is a year old now and finally I am getting her to drink water on a regular basis. I read the reviews about the spout coming off from chewing, but I haven't seen this. My daughter chomps the spout all the time and no rubber bits have come off. The one drawback to this cup is that it is pretty large and heavy. My daughter is small for her age, but she has figured out how to work with the cup. Once the liquid gets low, they do have to tip back to get the liquid, but I think it is good practice for her to learn that anyway. Yes, it does leak a little when tipped upside down for a long period of time, but it is not puddles or rivers of juice. All in all, I love this cup and so does my daughter.

I tried the cup myself and got mostly air and very little liquid. I respositioned the insert multiple times with no improvement. Thinking it was that particular cup we opened the others and tried them. About 1/3 of the time they actually work. The rest of the time you/the baby sucks mostly air. We purchased Gerber brand and a no name brand to see if they were any better. Sadly enough they were. We have used Dr. Brown bottles for the past 14 months. They are great. The training cups are absolutely awful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best sippy cup ever, May 22, 2007
I have searched far and wide for a good sippy cup for my 10 month old. Most are too hard to get the liquid out of and I was forced to remove the valves (causing a mess). These are by far the best I've tried and I've tried them all. There is a valve that stops it from leaking but you wouldn't know it by how easy it is to get liquid out when drinking. This is the only sippy cup that worked for my daughter, I highly recommend it!

3.0 out of 5 stars It leaks alot, December 20, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son liked using this. I didn't. It leaked all over the bag I was carrying it in. When I open this to refill it, it usually splashes from the lid and makes a mess. There is usually some liquid trapped between the layers on top which makes it hard to clean.

On the other hand, it is easy to hold by the handles and it is easy for my son to drink from.

Nevertheless, I don't plan on buying any more of these.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love the bottles, not the trainer..., August 26, 2007
My breastfed son LOVED the Dr. Brown's bottles and used them exclusively when I was at work. When it came time to try a trainer, we were excited to try the Dr. Brown's trainer. Unfortunately, it was not what we'd hoped. 1) It's HUGE, so a large amount of liquid must be placed inside. Otherwise baby/toddler will have to tilt his head at an extreme angle to get any liquid. 2) It's leaky. We've had lots of leak issues with this trainer. 3) If the valve isn't positioned just perfectly, the child sucks and gets nothing but air while the trainer leaks all over the place. 4) It's expensive! I really wanted to love this trainer, but in the end it didn't work out for us. We finally ended up using a Nuby silicone trainer at first so that my son got the idea of sucking on a soft trainer, then switched to Playtex sippy cups which are excellent! Sorry, Dr. Brown's...

5.0 out of 5 stars great cup!, October 13, 2009

I've tried so many sippy cups for my 1 year old daughter, and nothing was working. With this cup, there's not much sucking required as I tried it myself to see how hard it was to drink out of it... and all you need to do is to sip, just like you would in a regular cup. I'd recommend this to any parent!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing cup!, July 17, 2007
I handed this cup to my 6 month old, and he drank from it right away. I remember that with my two older sons I tried every cup on the market and it still took them a couple of months to learn to drink. The cup still leaks a bit if you turn it upside down, but I love how easy it is for my baby to drink from it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Sippy Cup, July 6, 2007
This is an amazing sippy cup. The important thing parents should know is that it holds up to dropping and throwing! I would buy this one every single time. I know it is more expensive than other sippy cups, but this one will hold longer than 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones.

My daughter loves the DR. Brown bottles, so I thought I would get thier cup too. She does like it, holds the cup like a big girl. Wish the handle didn't come off though. Have to becareful of not holding it by the handle when you put a drink in it., But still love the cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this cup, April 30, 2007

We tried several other cups before this one and my breastfed baby would not take to any of them (He also would not take a bottle of any kind). The first time I gave him this cup he drank like he had been using a cup for months. I highly recommend it.
