4.0 out of 5 stars I made the best of a bad situation
I had a 9 year-old neutered male who began peeing and pooping all around the house. I changed litter from Tidy Cat Scoop to this brand earlier this year. He occasionally leaves me a few "tootsie rolls" next to his litter box, but he never soils other areas of the house since I switched to this brand. The litter clumps very well, too, and keeps odors to a minimum.

3.0 out of 5 stars time will tell
I liked Dr. Elsey's cat litter for a while, not too much dust, clumped well. But after a few months, I noticed the room where we had the box had a bad odor all the time. I had to wash the litter box more often because the odor wasn't being controlled by the clay as much as I thought, and was permeating the plastic instead. It is a good product, but I switched back to Tidy...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Training & for Adults who develop behavorial issue, December 29, 2004

This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
I ordered this and have ACTUALLY USED IT, because I bought a kitten that pottied on the floor a couple times and my adults started following suite. If one goes on the floor the others tend to start doing it to because it is there nature to be territorial. A booklet guide is INCLUDED with the litter on how to help break behavioral problems and also clues as to if the situation is dangerous to your cats health. I never had to use the other behavior modification methods described as the litter was ALL it took to accomplish the job. Most people who have a cat that is "marking" territory is not necessarily a health problem especially in multiple cat households, but of course be aware of the clues. So far the product has worked wonders. My kitten has NEVER pottied on the floor since and my adults tend to want to use the kittens litter box rather than their own! The adults territorial marking completely and immediately ceased. So if you have cats and don't want your house to smell like you have cats due to territorial marking, this product is truly a BLESSING! I am sad that PetFoodDirect has discontinued the 40lb bags right after I found something so wonderful for my Persian cattery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't be more pleased, September 2, 2008
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
Regarding a review suggesting the higher ratings of this product may be that of the maker's stock holders....I would like to make clear we have no association with this product. Secondly, I was just comparing prices as I did not purchase this through Amazon but through a local source and have been so pleased I decided to write a review. Although skeptical since we had tried everything...I mean literally everything trying to get our cat to use the litter box instead of marking on our hardwood floors and furniture. Talking with our vet about this, she recommended Cat Attract. Said she had the same problem with one of her cats. Just refused to use the normal available litter. So, my wife was climbing the wall trying to get rid of the odor...I assume everybody knows what I mean. Granted the price is a bit steep. I can't say what the referenced reviewer's particular problem is but I can say unequivocally this stuff works...at least it certainly does for our cat. Don't know what's in this stuff but she took to it immediately and has not one time failed to use it. I will add for those who may not be aware...these covered litter boxes are not good. Cats will rarely use them. They like open boxes. They do not like to smell their own odor. I know that may sound strange but that's what our vet told us. Also, find a quiet place away from traffic. Bottom line is we had already tried all of the things suggested and nothing worked until we tried this. At any rate I would say if you are having this problem it certainly is worth a try. Better than scrubbing the floors or furniture and the oder still there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save my apartment and the cat, September 20, 2007
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
I foster a street cat which was recently rescued and spayed. She has some health issue, and mental stress for being through a lot recently. She refused to use litter box, and make a mess everywhere in my apartment. So I decided to get Dr. Elsey's per the review in Amazon. The moment I pulled this litter into the box, she jumped right in and peed in it. It is amazing. She now learns to use litter box, a blessing for both me and her. It has good odor control and trace almost no dust.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cats love it, November 9, 2011

This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
Our 5 year old male cat started going out of the litter box after we adopted a puppy. We tried all sorts of things to get him to stop and this litter was part of "Project Last Resort" at our house. As I was pouring the litter in the pan he was instantly interested. He immediately climbed in and scratched around. We have 2 cats and I had 3 litter boxes, each with a different litter. I wanted to see if he had a preference. He immediately started using this litter and ignored the others. As a human, this isn't my favorite. The clumps are heavy and sometimes stick to the sides and bottom of the pan a bit. There is no deoderizer so when you scoop you will smell cat pee but I'm not noticing a smell in the room or anything. It's also a bit dusty. You will need to scoop at least 1 time a day and wash the pan well occassionally too. Experts also say you should replace the pan every now and again since they absorb orders (you should do this with all litter). The Elsey website also says to completely replace the litter every 3 - 4 weeks. But, the fact that my cat uses it makes me a convert. It might not work for everyone but it's sure worth a try!

4.0 out of 5 stars Definately worth a try, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
I adopted a grown cat that turned out to have litter issues. He pooped or peed anywhere except the litter. We tried all kinds of things to help. This was my last resort. It seems that he has stopped peeing around since I started using the litter. Unfortunately though he still poops anywhere else except the litter. But I am real glad to have him peeing in the litter!! I hear that lots of people swear by this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Actually worked!!, November 4, 2011
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
We have a 9 year old female whom we rescued as a stray with 2 kittens. Her litter box is in the garage. Beginning in about January of this year, she started urinating in all different spots on the garage floor. We'd deter her from one spot and then she'd start going in another one. Tried this stuff and for the past week she's taken to it and no more accidents. We had tried switching to other brands of litter and that didn't work. This did, and least thus far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazed!, September 26, 2011
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
My "Old Boy": indoor, outdoor, 13 years old, male , neutered, has NEVER, not once, despite multiple cat boxes, litters, including the dirt outdoors he uses everyday for his business,,,been willing to use the cat box indoors.
We've had him for more than twelve years and he simply would not use the box. (To our great relief, in all that time he's only had one accident indoors---much to his credit. No small wonder we love this old guy, eh?)
So, worried as he advances in age and our very cold winter nights again approach, I posed this dilemma to our Vet and he mentioned CatAttract and gave me a one page flyer on the product.
I read reviews, was impressed, and picked some up today.
I poured it into a clean cat box, set "Screech" down next to it and he immediately climbed in a peed in the box!!!
I still can hardly believe it and will see over the next few days what happens and let you know, but so far, THIS IS AN ASTOUNDING PRODUCT!

I had to wash the litter box more often because the odor wasn't being controlled by the clay as much as I thought, and was permeating the plastic instead. It is a good product, but I switched back to Tidy Cat Instant Action because it has excellent clumping and odor controlling qualities.

5.0 out of 5 stars finally found something, October 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dr. Elsey's Precious Cat ''Cat Attract'' Cat Litter (Misc.)
I've tried behavior modification, diffusers, etc., but this product was the first thing that made an appreciable difference. My 17 year old cat had a bad habit of peeing on my daughter's bed in the early morning. I was washing sheets once or twice per day, but since using this product for the last three weeks, we've only had two incidents. What a change! I'm not saying other things don't help, but this liter made a HUGE difference and probably kept us from putting the cat down.
