I love the idea that this is an all natural mascara + has organic ingredients but nothing artifical or chemicals!! This is the tipe of mascara which lengthens the lashes not volumises it (I think Dr. Hauschka doesn't make that kind). When it's time to wash it off it comes off very easy (spares your lashes).

Unfortunately I couldn't change my 4 star recommendation to 2...and this is a follow up on my previous review.
When I'd been using this mascara for about 2 weeks I noticed that it started to flake except for some reason the flakes ended up in my eyes, not on my cheek or under my eyes. First I didn't know it was the mascara..I thought something went into my eyes but every single time I applied, it happened. Not straight away..but in about 2-3 hours later..This was very frustrating...I tried to put less of this product on my lashes but then I looked like I had nothing on. At this point I still had some flaking, not as bad as before, but it was still enough to hurt my eyes..so I just stopped using this product all together.
The only reason why I'd give 2 stars for this product instead of 1 because it's natural and organic...and I appriciate that fact. But that's about it.
I really wanted to like this product so I am very disappointed, it wasn't cheap either. Dr. Hauschka need to improve the quality of this product.

I like that this mascara is natural--it also washes off easily--too easily. Unless I plan to wear it for a very short period of time, it gives me "raccoon eyes."

I have been using this mascara, and other Dr. Hauschka skin products for four years now. Despite the high price, they are excellent products.

Many reviewers have commented regarding flaking, smudging, etc. with this product. You need to know what you are buying. Natural makeups are not harsh, not full of chemicals, and hypoallergenic. Hence, they are not going to have the waterproof, stay on forever, super volumizing characteristics of traditional mascaras. Some things must be sacrificed in order to remain natural and chemical-free.

Regarding Flaking: I only experience flaking on the second day. Meaning, if I put it on in the morning, wear it all day, sleep with it on, and wake up the next day, it will begin some slight flaking that second day. You can solve this problem by washing it off daily.

Regarding Smudging: This is not waterproof mascara. If you cry, swim, etc., it will run or smudge. I have not found it to have any excessive smudging without this type of exposure, or rubbing your eyes a lot. Even when I've rubbed my eyes a ton, or cried to the point where the mascara gets in my eyes, it does not irritate my eyes like traditional non-organic mascara does.

Also, the bottle lasts a LONG time.

I have medium-colored olive skin and dark brown hair, and I use the brown mascara. It is a very dark brown, and I feel it looks more natural than solid black.

Prior to using Dr. Hauschka mascara and other products, I was experiencing rashes on my eyelids and lips from traditional makeups. Even expensive brands like Origin or Clinique still caused me an allergic rash that would not go away for weeks. Turns out I am allergic to petroleum products, which are the base in any makeup or skincare product that is not organic. I tried Dr. Hauschka mascara after five or six expensive natural mascara bottles that still left me with rashes. If you have sensitive skin, this is certainly the right product! I have purchased nothing but Dr. Hauschka since discovering how soothing it was to my otherwise highly sensitive skin, eyes, and lips.
