4.0 out of 5 stars A small delight for fans
No one would describe this comic collection as "life-changing" or "captivating" or "an epic of epic epicness," but there are certainly moments of delight in its fleeting 80 pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars No additional background
This book doesn't add anything to the background of Dr Horrible Sing-Along Blog, every story is already described in the movie one way or another.
However, the comic-book format is nice and shows how Dr Horrible would translate as such.

4.0 out of 5 stars A small delight for fans, December 27, 2010
This review is from: Dr. Horrible and Other Horrible Stories (Paperback)
No one would describe this comic collection as "life-changing" or "captivating" or "an epic of epic epicness," but there are certainly moments of delight in its fleeting 80 pages.

All of the stories here take place before the events of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, providing additional (though usually tangential) backstory. How did Dr. Horrible decide to become evil? Where did Moist get his, uh, superpower from? Each story is bite-sized and self-contained. None really has any depth, but all of them are at least somewhat entertaining.

Don't skip the introduction, which is quite possibly the funniest page of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but short, May 3, 2014

I'm a huge fan of the Whedon clan and their various works and of the actors in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog so buying this was a no brainer. The only problem I had with it is that it was far to short for the price. I rated it 5 stars despite the shortness because I found it hilarious and it provided very valuable insight into the lives and motivations of several of the characters. The artwork is also excellent! It is important to note that this is actually a collection of 5 stories that were previously shown elsewhere.

This is a great extension of stories if you love Dr. horrible and the other characters. This book is not a rehashing of the story that was on TV but a series of shorts that gives you more insight and fun. Great little read. I just wish it were longer!

Very funny and interesting book! Definitely worth it if you love the blog as much as I do! It is pretty short though so keep that in mind.

It's a comic! It's Doctor Horrible! It's a musical without the music! Honestly, if you're into Doctor Horrible, then you need this book.

The Whedons are amazing. Also, the comic is fantastic, funny, well drawn and written and a nice glimpse into the world I love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Doctor is back!, October 14, 2013

I wish there were more of these comics. The Dr. Horrible universe has a lot of potential for other stories, and has strength in that it isn't overly mined for them. Still, a few more wouldn't hurt. These back stories add in a nice depth from the original musical.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just Horrible (But in a good way), October 8, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dr. Horrible and Other Horrible Stories (Paperback)
This comic book (or graphic novel - whichever you prefer to call it) starts with an introduction but it is not a typical one. It consists of a series of messages between Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, and Joss Whedon in which they are arguing about who will write the introduction as none of them want to do it. It only consists of one page and is a little entertaining to read.

The actual comic is a prequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and has five separate stories in it. The stories center around Captain Hammer, Moist, Penny, The Evil League of Evil, and Dr. Horrible much like the web series did. We do see some other characters in the stories though. Johnny Snow, James Flames, Mister Maniacal, and Justice Joe are some of the other characters that are seen in this.

Overall, this is a good comic to read for anyone who wants more Dr. Horrible outside of the original web series.

I enjoyed this short read. Fast paced, and a chance to see our favorite characters again. I was worried it would suck, but it doesn't.
