No one would describe this comic collection as "life-changing" or "captivating" or "an epic of epic epicness," but there are certainly moments of delight in its fleeting 80 pages.

All of the stories here take place before the events of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, providing additional (though usually tangential) backstory. How did Dr. Horrible decide to become evil? Where did Moist get his, uh, superpower from? Each story is bite-sized and self-contained. None really has any depth, but all of them are at least somewhat entertaining.

Don't skip the introduction, which is quite possibly the funniest page of the book.

I'm a huge fan of the Whedon clan and their various works and of the actors in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog so buying this was a no brainer. The only problem I had with it is that it was far to short for the price. I rated it 5 stars despite the shortness because I found it hilarious and it provided very valuable insight into the lives and motivations of several of the characters. The artwork is also excellent! It is important to note that this is actually a collection of 5 stories that were previously shown elsewhere.

This comic book (or graphic novel - whichever you prefer to call it) starts with an introduction but it is not a typical one. It consists of a series of messages between Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, and Joss Whedon in which they are arguing about who will write the introduction as none of them want to do it. It only consists of one page and is a little entertaining to read.

The actual comic is a prequel to Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and has five separate stories in it. The stories center around Captain Hammer, Moist, Penny, The Evil League of Evil, and Dr. Horrible much like the web series did. We do see some other characters in the stories though. Johnny Snow, James Flames, Mister Maniacal, and Justice Joe are some of the other characters that are seen in this.

Overall, this is a good comic to read for anyone who wants more Dr. Horrible outside of the original web series.

Joss Whedon and co. never disappoint. This is a must have for all Dr. Horrible fans out there. It features short stories on the past of our beloved characters: Horrible himself, one for Penny, one about Hammer, more about the Evil League of Evil and Johnny Snow, even Moist gets a story!

All have different artwork. Personally, I think Dr Horrible's story is the best one: the drawings resemble so much Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion, it's amazing, and also packed with action.

This graphic novel fills in a little bit of the world of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, a web short created by Joss Whedon and friends during the writers' strike of 2008. The short is entertaining and creative, showing the life of Dr. Horrible, a villain who wants to move up in the world. His big aim is to join the Evil League of Evil but his evil schemes are thwarted by oafish hero Captain Hammer. He's also distracted by Penny, a beautiful young woman he's fond of. She winds up dating Captain Hammer, another thorn in Dr. Horrible's side.

The graphic novel tells several stories about different characters. Some were definitely more entertaining than others. The best story follows the Evil League of Evil as they rampage across the city while the Council of Champions is off on retreat. The stories where Penny goes on a date and Dr. Horrible remembers his origins are both interesting and fun stories. Captain Hammers PSA and Moist's origin fell flat for me.

The book is a mixed bag and only of interest if you have seen the Sing-Along Blog.

Beautifully illustrated and charmingly funny, all the way through. Tells the backstories of Penny, Moist, Captain Hammer, and Dr. Horrible with the same tongue-in-cheek we loved from the internet movie. If you're a die hard fan, this is a must-have.

My husband loves Dr. Horrible so I thought this would be a perfect birthday gift. When it arrived, I read through it before wrapping it. I must admit, it's amazing. A must have for anyone who loves Dr. Horrible & craves more!

From the paperboard style cover through all of the high gloss pages, Zack Whedon and team deliver a set of five well written, excellently illustrated stories. With the sing-along-blog starting somewhere in middle of a rivalry between Doctor Horrible, and his nemesis Captain Hammer; it was nice to see what chain of events brought them all together in horribleness.

The Whedons are amazing. Also, the comic is fantastic, funny, well drawn and written and a nice glimpse into the world I love.

I enjoyed this short read. Fast paced, and a chance to see our favorite characters again. I was worried it would suck, but it doesn't.
